Alien: Isolation

It was like that in the first L4D also. A lot of people told Gearbox to make Colonial Marines a bit like L4D... they heard it, ignored it, and focused(resources and SEGA's money) on Borderlands/Borderlands 2 instead :facepalm

Well, the first game did the placing of weapons and such, but the changing of what's at ammo/supply drops and the path the players take came up in L4D2. It's part of the reason why I was ticked off when they released L4D2, because we were basically paying for an updated version of the game that was no more different than the first one.

But honestly, if Gearbox had done CM like L4D, it would have been pretty awesome.

For sure. It's a shame we only have a single Alien game on the horizon :(

I have played most ALL Aliens games since the beginning. Became part of the AVP Community when Rebellions original AVP arrived on the Jaguar System. Tbh I never ever thought an Aliens game would arrive that I was absolutely NOT interested in playing. But Alien Isolation will be the 1st Aliens game coming to PC that I won`t be bothering with.

But you WERE interested in AvP3?? Colonial Marines?? :wacko

This looks like it's going to be a really tough game even if you crank it down to easy. This is what survival horror games used to be like.

I agree. To be honest, other than the first film, I don't think we've been afraid of the Alien since the first film, so having a survival type game may actually be challenging, especially in the same kind if context as to why the Nostromo crew had difficulties trying to kill it. We basically get a better understanding of their situation in the film (and then some).

And I also agree that having Amanda in this game helps bridge he gap between the films. Yes, she was made for "Aliens" for one scene, but that scene set up a simple question: did she go looking for her mother in the time she was gone? And I think this game sets up that scenario nicely and bridges the two films together.

You know, there happens to be a nice TC mod for the game "Killing Floor" that's pretty awesome. My Dad and I tried it, and I think it's pretty good. The only drawback to it is that no one appears to be playing the TC mod online. But then again, I don't know how you feel about game mods and TCs.

Maybe Shataan should explain his reluctance for this title instead of just saying "I like all Alien games but I hate this one" and then walking off.

Oh, I am all for bridging the two films together. I too am curious how they're going to handle her supposed 'death' since you're not playing her at age 66 and she knows the existence of the xenomorphs, something that she no doubt would have passed around if she survives this endeavor. Sega definitely has more breathing room to handle these issues more practically than how Hicks survived Alien3.

There is the possibility that she dies at the end of the game, which means that the company lied to Ripley about how and when she died. I mean, doesn't seem odd she died at the age of 66, two years prior to Ripley being found, even more so with the advancements in medical technology that can help people live well past 70? And altering photos is possible, even nowadays. Image how far advanced photo and video editing would be in that time.

2179, that's when the events of ALIENS and Alien³ takes place ;)

The company lies about anything and everything so they could easily have been BS-ing Ripley at that point.

Exactly. If they have Amanda die at the end if the game, they could say, "If anyone asks, we'll say she died of some natural causes." When Ripley turned up, it would easy to say Amanda died of natural causes at her old age.

Weaver, 'Alien' cast reprising roles in new game[/h]The bonus "Crew Expendable" and "Last Survivor" levels, which will be available to those who pre-order the game, will allow players to portray Nostromo crew members Ripley, Dallas (Tom Skerritt) or Parker (Yaphet Kotto) as they explore the doomed ship and coordinate their efforts with Lambert (Veronica Cartwright) and Ash (Ian Holm) to lure the menacing alien into the airlock.
