Just a shade off topic, but this little greeblie on the emergency helmet looks like the same doodad from the ESB Snowtrooper armor and possibly the emergency beacon used by Han Solo.

I noticed that the top lamp is removed from the Kane helmet in the pics Karl posted...Hmm now Im wondering what happened to that!!!

That's the Dallas helmet, remember?

The light/lamp was sold at auction.

I also believe it was part of Phil Rae's prop collection before it was auctioned... He worked on the movie as an assistant to Martin Bower... Here is a pic of his collection, I think he sold almost everything a few years ago...

BTW, Looking at the pics Phase Pistol posted, I think the melted helmet is definitely Kane's (looks logical when you look at the photo where Dallas, Ash & Lambert carry him in the ship). Then I suppose the "Kane spacesuit" owned by the London propstore his composed of Kane's "body suit" + Dallas' helmet !

OK, I've reposted the pic, as requested... does it work better this time ?

I believe Kane's helmet is the melted one (with removed lamp), it would make sense... but since Kane's spacesuit surfaced a few months ago in the London propstore collection with an unaltered helmet, I suppose it is Dallas', know what I mean ? (it can't be Lambert's since it was painted white to become Ripley's and it can't be Kane's since it was melted, then cutted in 2... They could have made more than 3 helmets... but then why did they painted Lambert's to turn it into Ripley's ???)

I was told by Kit Freeborns that there were only the 3 adult helmets and the 3 kids helmets made.

6 helmets made for the film ?
Hmm, let's see : Bob Burns has one (Ripley), the London propstore another (Dallas' helmet on Kane's suit ?) and John Mollo has (had ?) one of the kids helmet and suit (Lambert's)... One was melted and cutted in 2 (Face hugger sequence aboard the Nostromo)... Martin bower said he cried when he saw helmets throwed in a bonfire (the 2 remaining kids helmets ?).
6 helmets, yes !!!

Richie, sorry I forgot to answer your previous post about Phil Rae... I've "met" him last year on eBay, he was selling some stuff like Event Horizon props, Thunderbirds genuine parts, ALIEN model photos, etc... We exchanged some emails and that was fun, he was very proud of his involvment in Sir Scott's masterpiece. He also sent me some pics (He has posted some since on Eagle transporter's board)... and then he disappeared (I'm still waiting for the Narcissus build-up I've bought from him, I think I'll never get it... Damn !!!)
There's not existing place where you'd be able to take a look at his collection... but he told me that all the photos displayed on Martin Bower's site were taken by him...

Could the clear faceplates have been replaceable in the original adult helmets? Seems reasonable...

Steve could answer that one better but its doubtful. The visors seem to have been glued in pretty well. I think thats why the cut in half helmet still has the visor in place. You can see the foam they used to add some thickness to teh helmet.

I am assembling the helmets pretty much they way they were in the movie. Some minor variations. I originally wanted to do a replaceable face plate so one could put either version in. But I have found that that would mean taking all the interior out and etc... so it is not an easy change. So I would guess that it was one of the original helmets.
I have spoken to a gentalman who said he owned the white suit and another (I would assume Lambert) but no helmets. Bob has the white one..
