Many might not know but I do sound and music engineering in the film industry and as a fun part I obviously get to see movies in the production process and tho I had seen bits and pieces of Alice in the making, NOTHING could have prepared me for what I saw today at an exclusive engagement for industry workers. It was simply incredible.

Hope you all get get to see it soon.

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

Got tickets to see it in IMAX3D tomorrow. Looking forward to it even though I've read a few fair-to-middling reviews in the mornings papers.

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

I thought it was great too! I liked the story, Depp was amazing as usual.

The only bit of a complaint I had is the usage of 3D had reverted to the gimmicky in this. Jabbing the spears in people's faces, etc, instead of building a world with good depth of vision like Avatar was able to do.

No idea why but I have about as much interest in this as I did Sweeney Todd, which is ZERO percent. It is positive to hear good reviews. If more keep coming in it may change my mind.

I just can't get past the fact that Depp looks like Elijah Wood! Can't wait to see it though.

Yeah, back when the first images were release, I swore that it was Wood who was the Mad Hatter.

Good to hear positive things. It's been getting mixed reviews from the critics.

The trailer looked good (will watch this weekend), but the 3D effects from the trailer does give that feel that it's a gimmicky 3D movie rather than an Avatar experience (100% agree with your description on that too)

Teecrooz, I said the exact same thing to my daughter "Depp looks more like Frodo Baggins in this film than he does any of his other characters". LOL

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

Question: Is Alice actually the main character because the previews seem to act as if Depps cracked out Mad Hatter is?

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

The movie had waaaaay too much Jack Sparrow playing the Mad Hatter. That crap just gets old. But I guess it sells tickets, everytime he came on screen teenie bopper fan gilrs would scream and sigh. It was ok, but not Burton's best work by any means.

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

Oh and Crispon Glover was the best part of the movie!

Alice is the main character but the Mad Hatter
plays a sort of 'friend' to her and aid. The amazing thing I loved most is that with every version I've seen of Alice, watching this one felt like it was a whole new story all together. The mad hatter did have Jack sparrow moments but if u really allow the film to take u where it should, it really won't matter.

I'm not a huge Burton fan, but this one I must admit, made
it onto my faves list

Re: Alice in Wonderland... Saw it, Loved it, Gotta see it again

I think a lot of people are letting certain aspects of the movie distract them from the story. At its core, it's a very solid screenplay, and I feel like it really shines in the movie, personally.

That being said, first viewing could be overwhelming for the unfamiliar. Doesn't slow down to explain anything. There are new names for the characters, places, an invented language, etc. Pretty relentless in its pacing. Should allow for particularly satisfying follow up viewings.

Loved it. Alice's character arc is handled with such a sensitive poignancy, her choices are beautifully defined in her interaction with the plot. Very well laid out. Very empowering.

The new Tron trailer was great! I am sooooo looking forward to the new movie! Heck, all things considered, I enjoyed the Tron trailer more than Jack Sparrow in Wonderland.
