AAV Drop Ship

Wow, fire power on that one for sure o_O (y) (y) Question Katsu-san: will it still fit under the main drop ship with that big Mother turret?

Next Generation US Marine Corps AAV Dropship

According to people familiar with the matter, the US Marine Corps' next-generation rapid force deployment system is experiencing delays in development and increased budgets. The aircraft development department is seriously concerned that the required specifications have changed significantly from the beginning and that a major design change of the dropship is already required. In response, the vehicle development team said, "We wanted to make progress as originally planned if possible, but as usual, we had to change the design due to repeated remodeling proposals from the operation side."
According to the Marine Corps Secretariat, "Due to changes in the military situation during development, the need for further improvement was unavoidable. We always want to give the Marines the best. Ultimately. We believe it will benefit taxpayers. We have full confidence in our development team and believe they will surely produce good results.

Two years have already passed since the development, and even the operation test of the prototype is still unfinished. Considering the security situation surrounding the allies, it is expected to be put into practical use as soon as possible. However, recently, it has been pointed out that the turret base is vulnerable to being hit in combat due to a design error, and further design refurbishment is required.

Not sure if you celebrate it Katsu !? , but if you do ? ...., wishing you and your family a Happy Easter mate !, and to other members following this thread ( if you don’t mind ).

Regarding paintwork for this..... , definitely not a fan for a camo/pattern option....., it’s ‘futuristic, advanced, and possibly deploying on other worldly sites’....., right !?. Paint it ‘Pink or Shades of Fushia !’ :ninja::devil::unsure::lol:

Thanks for the kind thought for us. Here in Japan, Easter is not very popular so far. Unlike the birthday of J.C, our capitalists seem can't find any commercial advantage in his holy resurrection.
I hope you all may have a happy Easter celebration.

And Ged-san, thank you for your kind support of my daughter's youtube movie. She is sending the best regards to you. I wish if she had a little time to translate her Youtube video for you. She was working all night long for three days last week to catch up on the order's delivery date made a costume for her customer. All I could do was serve her a good meal.

Now I'm tackling the reconstruction of the aero vehicle.
Looks like I found a way to make it fit the ground vehicle.

All the best,
katsu

So Katsu-san, for the paint scheme I think I could picture a digital camo paint scheme working if the "pixels" were large enough. As an alternative consider digitalizing (word?) something like an alligator skin/scale pattern or a tiger shark color pattern. When you mention grayish, blueish, greenish, that's what comes to my mind.
...Although a skinned salmon is pink. Sorry Ged-san couldn't resist!

Ahaha! If they have to be deployed on the red planet Mars, salmon pink will be very practical!

I've been working on the model to be ready to hang down from the aero vehicle.

The rear gate has been modified.
Since I didn't want to make it heavy, I used hard styrofoam covered with thin sheet plastic.

This is what we called a poster board. My wife picked it up from her companies garbage bin. What a wonderful partner!

I've made the restraint fixture for the rooftop of the ground vehicle.
Then I've taken out the nose section of the aero vehicle and tried to test both restraint systems.
The rotating multiple hooks caught the receptor very smoothly.

The new cockpit will be a bit like an 'Aliens' dropship.
Tandem crew seat and will be configured in high and low position.
Also, I am designing the main gear of the aero vehicle. It may look like the legs of a crab.

There were many useless detours this time, but thanks to everyone, I managed to get this far.
The biggest problem is where do I put it when it's completed.

Thank you very much, my friends.

Just noticed that you have a very familiar fan in the background...
Got 2 of them.
Need to vacuum both mine out, SO dusty....

You’re Very lucky in many ways with regards to your family Katsu-san !, hoping everyone is doing well !:)...,
That’s a terrific use of ‘foam/poster board’ !.....,
I call ‘dibs’ regarding your ‘space to display’ issue, and and am willing to help you with this by offering my own place to house this completed build !, or any other items that are taking up ‘too much’ creativity space of you & your my friend !:ninja::devil::unsure::lol:

Very cool looking progress! I love the look and function of the attachment racks and hooks. Nicely engineered mechanical mechanisms bring a smile to my face. Also, nice cockpit design retaining the tandem configuration.

Another required safety feature is obvious. AAV turret guns are not allowed to fire while attached to the drop ship!

Ged-san beat me to it but as for storage/display issues I'll let you charge me a display fee in return for the storage fee. Call it even.

Well, the pic answers my question: yes, the turret fits under the drop ship (y) Locking mech is fine from where I stand Katsu-san.

Thank you Hagoth-san! Since you all are concerned about this build for a long time, I always respect a straight opinion from the objective perspective. :notworthy:

And, hey, don't stimulate Ged-san. He will come up with another idea.
The turret guns will be called BB (Butt Buster) Gun System. (y)

That clamping mechanism: WOW!

Thank you, Tom-san!

I love the reworked design for the cockpit!

Thank you! I'm so happy to hear that!

Thank you, joberg-san.

I've made a simple mockup with some cardboard.
There are still many parts to consider but I think it finally got a good proportion balance.

Due to the design change and enlargement of the ground vehicle, the design of the aircraft cockpit has to be redesigned, It was a bit hard for me but I'm glad I took the courage to give up the old cockpit module. But I think it was a kind of 'injury merit(?).

Thanks for looking!

katsu

This is looking very nice! Really like the direction this is taking. Your "injury merit" is recognized and all appropriate honors of valor bestowed.
The design ministry is pleased with the reuse of so many original components in the drop ship redesign.

Still plenty of room of room for a 30mm chin turret and with the tandem seating configuration there is now room for check mounted 75mm rocket launchers.

The pilots appreciate the AAV turret safety measures. Depending on the pilot position it's either Butt Buster or Brain Buster.
Neither of which is desirable. Especially if you are the one ending up with butt for brains. :eek:o_O

No fees charged for ‘housing’ ,.... ‘friend’ discounts applied !:p

Loving the the changes and incremental alterations to the main ‘drop ship’ !

This build , from start to finish !?:ninja::devil: ...., is truly a joy to watch Katsu!
You’re taking this to another bloody level !
