AAV Drop Ship

Great project and pro-job on those engine fans yuumi-san:notworthy::notworthy:(y)(y)

Thank you very much, joberg-san.

Amazing metal work! Your skills are legendary...

Thank you always, korben44-san.

Today, we went to my father's grave yard to clean it up and also help the annual cleaning of the temple with many other people. That was one nice day of late May.

Well, a new week will start.

hoping you got a another nice week.

WOW !..., don’t know how I missed this latest project of yours Katsu-san , but I’m certainly very pleased to have finally caught up to it !.
Your builds are always interesting, informative, amazingly creative and most importantly ‘fun’ to follow..., if I’m ever lucky enough to visit Japan, I’ll be sure to book a meal at your ‘cafe/tea house/snack bar’ !?:p
Great to see what’s sure to be, another Masterclass in modelling my friend. ;)
Domo Arigato sensei !

Oh! Hi, gedmac-san, thanks for stopping by and thanks for the pleasant words.
Of course, you are always welcome to my little tavern.;)

I finished the cowling of those engines.

When I making something I've never tried before, I always made extra pieces. The first one.... Huum. The second one is so-so. And the third one will be almost OK. Though I don't know when I might build the things like this again next time or if this will be the one time only but oh, I like this moment.

Please allow me to show you a little things my wife struggling these days.
We Japanese always love to eat Onigiri. A rice ball cooked by a bare hand of mother. We bring it for lunch or small picnic. Just like you do with your peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a hot-dogs. It's easy and loved by everybody.

Recently, my wife got an idea came up in her mind when she put her 'onigiri' in her handbag for her lunch.
How about making a small pouch for 'onigiri'? So, she went out to some local fabric store to shop any appropriate odds and ends of cloth.
And the weekends and the following weekends, she sit behind the sewing machine and made these things.

It can pack one or two 'onigiri'.
Then she brought a bagfull of these pouches and gave it to her woman colleagues in her office.
She said' That was a little sensational moment! Everyone looked so happy to have it. They said it's so new and everyone wanted to have it but none of the things like this was on a shelf of any shops ever.' -- really? --
Anyway, I'm so happy that she found something that makes her forget about the daily bothering jobs.:D
Now she planning to establish her enterprise and put up this 'pouches' on a mas production line and make million. ....Huum... Dream on, my dear.....

Wait a minute... If she could make million, maybe I can buy some new tools like 3D printer or something.
I can be a vice president!

Thanks for looking,

katsu

Lovely story! I don't want to steal your thread but: my mother was always very good with crafts. One of the first books I remember her showing me was "The Reader's Digest Book of Things to Make and Do". It was chock full of woodwork projects, resin casting, making toys, jewelry, clothing etc. When we went on trips, she used to make items for the family: picnic bags, tool bags, even toiletry bags. I am 100% sure I got all my enthusiasm for model making from her :)

Anyways in short your story reminded me of my mom. Thanks!
And the Onigiri pouches are great!

Those engine cowlings turned out great katsu-san (along with the fans) , such meticulous detailed work .
Onigiri pouches !? This is another reason your threads are always so enjoyable - your generosity in sharing personal everyday stories ..., are an absolute bonus:)
So it seems creativity runs in the family eh ! Yourself, 1x cos-playing daughter and now your lovely wife .
I’m wondering who inspires whom in your richly talented home ?

She is definitely A very capable woman.

Thank you, gedmac-san,

My family member have a sad habit. If they have a spare time, they always do something.
I rarely see them lay down on a couch and watch TV.
Only our cat does.

Excellent work on the engines!

Those little pouches seem like a great idea!

Thanks, Analyxer-san! You want to join our business? :D

Today, I may have to build a cloth cutting table for my daughter #1.
Maybe I can earn a bottle of whisky for that.;)

Your daughters are very fortunate to have such creative parents. And nice work on the cowlings! The way you made the intakes is really clever.

Here's a little updates,

I had been thinking the design of the part which connects the wing tip and engine nacelles these days. None of a good one came up. So, I tried to think from the different aspect.
If they design these tilt turbo fan aircraft, these engine nacelles should be able to tilt for side slip maneuver because I think the turbo fan engine has not quick throttle response as compare to the turbo prop engine. And also, What if those nacelles could flip up to 90 degrees as a parking position, the design of the connecting part will be a little bit complicated and look realistic.
Then I started to design this 2 axis connect.

It is basically a box structure containing a couple of actuator cylinders for tilt the nacelles upward and downward.
The box itself rotates with nacelle forward and backward to be cruising or takeoff positions.

Tilt the nacelles to the max upward positions of 90 degrees for the parking position.

Making hinges for flipping movement.
I made eight and only 4 of them had affordable quality. Geee.

Between these white struts, a pair of actuator will be mounted.

This is it for now.

Bento time!

Today, minced pork and beef cutlet, grilled salmon and rice.

WOW!... , Katsu-san I don’t know what’s more impressive ; your carefully thought out problem solving ( a lot of engineering & modelling skill ) regarding the wing and nacelles connection , or your culinary skills which are also awesome ! ( the cats looking hungry too ! ) :p :).

Thank you very much, Ged-san.
That was a little bit tough part of this build.
I'm so happy to hear your kind words.
All the best,

Fantastic work and why I am hungry after looking at this thread!? ;)

hungry now

Thank you, Constantine-san, Belugawrx-san.
I think it's a kind of magic of bento-box.
Once you pack your daily food in a small box, it turns to be something looks yummy.

Here are some pics of today.

Continuing yesterday's work.

Next, I have to think about the rotating mechanism of the box structure. The white box structure will be mounted inside of the wing and the black
part of the connecting section will be exposed in the air. When the nacelle is in cruising position, that part will be an air resistance. So I'm thinking that I may put some kind of a fairing on the nacelle.

Still, many things are remained even only for this part but thanks to the strong support of my friends, it seems I feel like I'm gradually getting a self confidence to carry on.

Many boring pics are following so far but thanks for looking.

Fantastic scratch building. I like how you plan your ideas out and then start building it. I'll be following this build to the end.
