I think the film would not have had that same effect had it not been for the detail. You don't get a good look at it, but you feel it's all there. Not sure if you can fake it.

Lucas wrote the book on spending the money on all the detail, but not wasting screen time showing it off. I think he blew his rule with the prequals.
