back in the summer, I offered a kit of the 38" super star destroyer model, and now that the master was remolded, and my maker of this fine item is back into swing, I can fulfill orders on those who wanted one but was too late on the first run. I have one now on ebay under KORBANTH seller.

but to refresh your memories - heres the photos -

Also hoping to be able to add to the package a small Star Destroyer that is in scale with the SSD, casted up as a 1 piece part that you can attach off to the side of the SSD...as a free bonus...

I think that would really top the cake

Just got mine in the mail today. Beautiful work. Cast came out mostly clean. I am really impressed with the level of detail on it. Just a few spots will need to be built up.. I am extremely pleased with it.

Hey, any chance I can get that free bonus Star Destroyer....:angel

yes, sure...when I get them made, we'll work out a few bucks for postage...it'll be a few weeks...they just a casting of a hallmark SD - but they were the correct scale..

oh my, I hope Hallmark doesnt get mad! :)

I'd like a couple of those smaller star destroyers too. I'd pay for extras. I keep having edges of my SSD chip off and I am not sure how to fix it. I also considered purchasing a new engine area to my kit because of surface bubbles. All in all its a gorgeous kit. I haven't even started building mine. I have to repair it first. I had 3 hull edge chips before even taking it out of the box, those areas are so thin. I wonder too if this kit can be casted in clear resin. If I could get one in clear it would be MUCH easier to light it. I dont even think it is possible to light it in the way that I want to without it being cast clear.
I'm just glad that I got one though.

I won't say anyting if you won't....:angel

what I do if any edges pieces break off is back some of those areas with some tape, and tilt tape upwards, making a lip, and put a few drops of RESIN into those areas, allow 5 hours to cure, then take way tape, and you have your edges back.

Hey all,

I have had a chance to look over the SSD and let me say I am very impressed. I have cast my own parts for models and looking at this, it is not an easy thing to produce. Kudos to Korbanth. The detail is incredible. Just a few minor areas that need to be cleaned up.

I showed it to some of my fellow 501st members and they were also very impressed. If you are thinking about getting one, you will not be disappointed. :thumbsup

Scott have you seen one in person?

I ask because mine has thousands of airbubbles (missing edges) all over the building areas, I've had 2 in hand so I can attest for the quality, the first one was really bad and returned it, the 2nd a little better but still had major airbubbles, impossible to repair without scratchbuilding the thousands of building edges.

I have many quality resin kits and aware that some work is required, I expected a better casting quality especially for the asking price, no where does the photos posted reflect the casting quality of actual kit. I will post photos of the two I received and you'll be the judge.

Mine has very little air bubbles and where there are a few, easily filliable. Perhaps your castings have more to do with the molds going bad. Mine was pulled from a new mold.

Would love to see closeup photos of yours, I got mine from the first run, what i see is not a sign of deteriorated mold but actual airbubbles. Maybe he's paying more attention on his new pulls, I'm really disappointed as I really liked this model but the casting quality I got is not worth the price I paid.

Had to order up a ssdestroyer from Randy and I have some assurances of quality.Has anyone been successful painting one yet and happy with the outcome? I have not heard any paint colors mentioned anywhere.any suggestions? centaur

David, did you get the Super Star Destoyer ok?
Yes,thanks. It was packaged well and i am happy with it. As expected there are a few air bubbles ,but with cast resin parts, you'll have that with a complicated mold. And the sculpting is so complex, not many would ever notice. And as described heating up a few areas with a heat gun has taken out the warps for the most part. Its a long and thin model! A little grinding,a little filler, and some paint and i will post a picture up. david reed
