1408 Dolphin Hotel Paper Props Thread!

That bottle is a real beauty!

I'm not 100% sure there's white border on the label, but on this screencap it looks to be there, so I added it because it looks better this way:

Bottle looks great, but I would like to goba different route. I would like to find the thermostat from the room. Thats the piece I want. Lol. Good luck. Let me know when you find it so I can buy one.

I don't think the thermostat is commercially available and may have been made for the movie built on another thermostat. Been googling thermostats for about an hour and find stuff in the art deco style, but nothing. Closest I found is a Schneider Electric. A couple of things to note is the model number on the bottom says SJK 3073. SJK looks like initials for Stephen King but the middle doesn't match and 3073 adds up to 13. Looks like it could be easily 3d pinting and put on to another thermostat.

Don't give up, might be out there somewhere. May try to reach out to some folks in the hvac industry, some of the older ones may have a better idea. The tricky part is nailing down a year for the decor, the engineer even said most of the stuff is super old. Could be as early as the 20s, possibly even up to the 70s and 80s.

Did anyone else notice that since RafalFett put time and hard work into recreating the 1408 menu, and posted them publicly on here, some guy on ebay has listed a screen used 1408 menu with a certificate of authenticity, like a dozen times.. at 100 bucks a pop, getting a sale each time? Think it was late Feb I reported the seller to Ebay. Searches now aren't showing anything, and the seller has removed them from his items for sale, and past auction searches not showing a thing... sheesh.

Edit: Can anyone else find the past sales of that stuff. 99.99% sure it was Rafal's stuff.

Checking the past history just gives me this. Thankfully.

Just kind of sucks, thinking at least a dozen people purchased the item on ebay, thinking it was a screen used piece, especially at like 100 bucks each for the item. How can someone sell a "screen used" menu, from a film, that only 1 is seen on screen, 10 times +, and people still paid buying it.

I think that's normal. I've bought stuff and had it pulled after I bought it, and it lists the word description in my "bought" list, but clicking on it goes no where. It won't even show the listing that was present when I bought it. Totally vanishing is a sign (I believe) of eBay pulling the sale, not the seller.

Now that you mention it. That does sound familiar. I never made the connection, and also didn't believe the seller.

Dolphin Hotel Welcome Depliant.png

I made this Welcome Depliant after I found something similar on eBay:

And because it's from the same hotel slightly redressed for the outside shots, I adapted it for the Dolphin Hotel:

The depliant should print at 204 x 228 mm, while the pocket with flaps at 106 x 60 mm.

And finally, here's my replica, printed on a thicker paper (around 250gr) and the pocket was attached to the inside with double sided adhesive tape:

Just a small update: I reprinted on a laser printer the hotel depliant and the difference is huge (my home printer is an Epson with CIS technology, but not always prints the correct colors or the intensity I want):

I also did a bit of tweak to the sparkling bottle, more exactly I 'sandblasted' the bottle with sandpaper, but while this is not the best approach, it will do the trick. The label was also reprinted on glossy vinyl:

And a couple of beauty shots with the sparkling water bottle, the hotel depliant and the menu:

Firstly- awesome work, everyone. Just reading through this all and came to the section about the frosted bottles. If you want a quick easy "frost" on glass bottles, forego the sandpaper and use a flat clear acrylic spraypaint. Here's an example of one of my Nuka Cola's, before and after.

Cheers, and keep up the great work!
