1408 Dolphin Hotel Paper Props Thread!

I'm honestly a bit dubious about how the auction went £400 to 1K so fast.

I saw the Indy Magnoli Bilbo book pop up on my YouTube feed last week, and it pretty much settled what I'd much rather buy.

Red Book

And well, Tobin's Spirit Guide too.

I wonder if Indy would consider doing a small Ninth Gate run of books... After seeing that Red Book video..and the Tobin Spirit Guide.

There was also one time I won an auction for an object, only to be told they couldn't find it and it should not have been listed (even though there were images of it and everything lol)

Woah, that's nuts. Sounds like you got absolutely done over, and someone that lost the auction made an offer afterwards that they couldn't say no to. Just that scenario breaks so many laws, especially since they print the auctions up in catalogue form, following experts studying the piece, and professional photos, just to make it to the auction. There was no mistake there dude. Someone lost the auction, but had deep pockets. Breaks a lot of EU laws there.

You would have had a legal case there for that one. Though a headache, would have maybe brought a bit of spotlight to the practices of the company. Don't know what contract law is in your country, but I'm sure it is pretty standard. Could have brought a case against the company in your home country, that they would have to make an appearance, or hire legal representation in your country to defend, and in that case, most companies won't even bother finding representation to defend themselves.

Haha yeah that's what I assume happened as well, they refunded so I didn't care much but it still left a bad impression.

This is the YouTuber guy. Huge horror prop collector, and likes to document his PropStore auction problems

In fairness, I think every last one of us on this site would side with him about his original issue, the Lost Boys jackets COA debacle. They asked him to shred it, and he did.

This is part 2 of the videos I think. In truth, seeing his original videos about the Hellraiser Pillar of Souls, on top of the Lost Boys jacket thing... made me wary of using Prop Store. Now hearing they cancelled a sale, after a legally binding contract was made... and being dubious about how the 1408 folio went 400-1K in such a short time.

I hope you win the 1408 stuff. Would be great if someone here gets it as the new caretaker of it. Definitely won't be any bids coming from me anyway. I see 1408 becoming more and more of a cult classic on the reddit horror sub, and the new younger horror fans discovering it and loving it the last bunch of years. That folio is definitely a good investment in the long-term.

Congrats for the acquisition! The only downside (if any) is the missing folder where the actual files were stored, the one with the oval sticker on the front.

A month ago, spent an hour or two trying to find a similar folder to the one used in the movie. One would think it would be easy, and I'm sure we've all stayed in hotels with this exact one in the room probably many times, with the card holder, and the pen elastic down the spines.

Anyone up for joining in on the search? It will be worthwhile!
