1408 Dolphin Hotel Paper Props Thread!

Honestly, I don't know how much can be done with the files, as most of them are aged photos, so no clean up here. Also, the newspaper clips are aged, some of them partially hidden, but I'm open to suggestions. I would do the hotel stationery and maybe this card seen inside the burnt folder:

Was going to scrape all the photos from the auction myself too

If on the last day, there's no bids for it, and no one else here is gunning for it, I'll delay my bday camera lens present for myself and put in a bid. If it works, will scan every last page for all you good folks here!

I do love that page "My Brother was eaten by wolves on the Connecticut turnpike."

Feels so haunting, like a Shining "All Work and No Play" thing. Wonderful!

Just remembered I downloaded a Stephen King audiobook pack years ago - must see if I can find 1408 in it.

That would be great!

I wonder why most, if not all items are attached with paper clips to cardboards? I understand that the files have a better stance with the cardboard between them, but it was also the reason to better fill in the folder?

We see the bloody version of that page in the movie:

Oooooh nice one! Thanks for the heads up.

We should crowdfund it! Either that or I won't be buying myself that new camera lens I was planning on next month!

Anyone here thinking of bidding for it? Would only bid on it if I knew none of the other 1408 fans on here were going for it. Wouldn't want to be bidding against them putting the price up as I know it would be going to a good home if it was got by someone here.
I was gonna bid on it myself, also to scan them, but I can't really display them (bit too gruesome lol) so if you can go ahead. I don't mind chipping in, wouldn't want it to disappear in some private collector's hands.

I'm the same man. If I won the auction, it would be an absolute waste. Only reason I'd be buying is to scan every last page for all the legends that have posted in this thread over the years - the free paper props sub.

I honestly hope, and pray that someone here gets it. Like..... almost 20 years of 1408 fans, tracking down photos of skylines.... identifying hotel foyers and stuff.

It honestly would be a shame if none of us got this.

Years after the movie was released, wasn't seen as a good movie.... slated etc. Only over the years it's become a cult favourite. I see it every month or three on reddit horror...... either some young kid looking for a haunted horror etc. Been wild seeing it rise through the ranks of recommended...

That folder is a hero prop, though the auction doesn't even mention it. To me as a 1408 fan, that folder is on the same level as a Necronomicon.

In truth, if I won the auction, and be done scanning everything, I'd send it to MakeBelieve or Raff, or that lad that had the basement theatre.

Edit:

Preservation.

Okay, well the auction is still 10 days so maybe someone else here will be interested in buying & displaying it, but otherwise if you would bid on it, send me a DM if you want me to contribute so we can increase the chances of you getting it.

Not much, but here are the hotel stationary and business card(?):

The typewriter faded/eroded effect is not the best, but will do for now. The 1st 2 images are LTR sized, the 3rd one is A4, while the business card is 100 x 60 mm.

I did some time ago 2 of the visible The Weeping Beech Inn brochures, but forgot to post them here:

I tried to clean up/straighten the 1st image, but not my best work; the second image is a placeholder of the same house, as I couldn't find that same photo. Both brochures are 240 x 119 mm.

Two days ago the auction hit £1k.

That's me out anyway. I wish it wasn't, but I set a goal in my mind.

I know I'll regret it, like so many other auctions in the past, and will haunt me. But sure, eff it.

Though I still regret that "idle Hands" hand, for 750. ****.

If anybody else is planning to bid, please let me know, otherwise I will give it a try
I set the 1K mark as the most I could throw towards it. Was hoping it wouldn't get that far quite so soon. IIRC, Propstore has a 30% commission from both the seller and buyer, so 1K would have been 1300 sterling for me.

As much as I'd love it, the 30% commission from both the buyer, and the seller, means the company makes 60% of the final price of an item. I know they've sponsored this forum for soooo long, but taking 60% on the back end, is insane to me.

And that's before having to pay like 33% import fees since Brexit for any purchase from the UK. So 33% value of the final price and postage fees as import fees... That 1K might as well be 2K. Would make more sense to buy it, fly there, and bring it back on a plane.

To be honest, the person bidding for it is probably that horror fan guy in the US that makes videos about criticising Prop Store auctions and the customer service.

Yeah all of these extra costs are insane honestly. There was also one time I won an auction for an object, only to be told they couldn't find it and it should not have been listed (even though there were images of it and everything lol)
