11th Doctor blue bowties / series 6 costume discussion

Could be a sign he is going to be wearing the crushed black for series 7 unless they decide to upgrade his costume to another style.
I just hope they keep his tweed the same. I'd like to think I don't have to buy all the variations of his jacket to keep my OCD at bay...

Modernboy my apologies, I got it the wrong way round. I knew both were worn but thanks for clearing up which ones on which episode. Never knew about the trousers on TGWW. Very interesting.

What is the fit like on these - I usually can wear a 30" at smallest but a 31" is perfect. Sometimes with slim jeans, you need to wear a size up on your waist.

I'm also a 32 and picked up a 34, mostly because I have fairly thickly muscled legs for someone with a mostly sedentary lifestyle. The waist seems to run true to standard jean sizing as it's about 2 inches too big, but the legs are fairly snug, so I'm glad I got the larger pair.

When I say "standard jean sizing" I refer to the fact that, at least in my experience, jeans tend to run a size larger than they are labelled. For instance, I have a 34" waist, yet almost universally wear a 32.

Now that we have thoroughly derailed the topic... Someone find one of these ties. I need one to go with my new G Stars and the Shetland tweed sitting on my cutting table.

I have several options right now for the series 6 jacket - I have ruled out Abbyshot as I am not satisfied with the overall accuracy.
I have a set of series 5 shirts from Steve Ricks and very happy with them - I am looking into getting one of his bespoke series 6 jackets, although the price is very prohibiting at the moment. I am hoping Magnoli may come up with an offer that suits my hobby budget better at this time.
As for the jeans, I am def going to get a pair of the crushed black g-stars - still on the fence about size. I hate ordering clothing online - I like to try it on in person.

Well here is the artwork for the bowtie. I am not bothered is someone wants to use it to produce these but please just ask me first either on the thread or via PM:

Please excuse the shape of the bowtie. It is not the shape you could have it, it is just a standard shape the pattern was drawn in. It is more the pattern that you should be interested in. Let me know what you think guys.

I'm the same size and have the exact same experience with the G-Stars - those are some slim legged pants!

I will have to order them soon unless you guys think they will stick around for a few months more?

I guys, I'm french then please forgive me if my english is not so good.

I saw that you were wondering were to find the bowtie of your dreams.
If you got enough money (I'd say like 200 bucks, and more if you want some very expensive materials), there's a french créateur in Paris, place Vendôme, named Monsieur Jean-Yves, who's specialized in Bow-Ties creations, all his bow ties are handcrafted in his shop, and he does an excellent work.
If you want a personnal bow tie, he also does custom ones, you can ask him to make replicas from Matt Smith's Bow Ties.

He's very popular in france, he makes bow ties for a lot of movie stars, specially when they come to Cannes.

Having a Matt Smith's Bow Tie made by him could be really cool.

I already asked him a few ours ago how much it would cost me to do the Matt Smith's Blue Bow tie (this one http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg842/scaled.php?server=842&filename=newbluebowtie.jpg&res=medium ), If my order is getting complete, I'll show you some photos!

No way is a bowtie worth $200 - only if it was production used would I consider paying that much.
Magnoli Clothiers offers custom movie and TV related wardrobe pieces and accesories at reasonable prices.
I believe I read that Magnoli is planning on doing the series 6 bowtie and is also working on the series 6 jacket.

Switching gears here...
I noticed while watching my series 6 Blu ray, right after the Doctor gets shot and is laying on the sand we can see his suspenders really well in the daylight. They look like they have a purple color to them - is this because they are actually purple or do they take on that color under that lighting condition?

Has one started growing their hair longer? I know a bit extreme, I have but gave myself the excuse that I have never had long hair so why not lol. It's driving me nuts :lol

I won't change my hairdo unless I think I can pull it off. Thankfully, I don't have Matt Smith's Frankenstein-ish head, so I really don't see the point in getting my head area to look like his. I'm happy having a decent costume.
