11th Doctor blue bowties / series 6 costume discussion

So strange. Definitely a different pair of trousers in "the God Complex" They are non-waxy and have side welt pockets. But when they show a close-up of his boots they are the waxy jeans. The close-up must have been a pick-up shot. I believe these are the same pants he is wearing in "The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People."

In "The Wedding of River Song" he is back to wearing waxy jeans probably pair 1 though they might have a black button which would mean they are a heavily modified Blade Spark 3D Aged denim procured at the same time as the Crushed Black.

The stitching detail on the outside seam of the Wedding pair is quite different from Pair 1 in Impossible Astronaut so I can't see it is the same pair. But he wears so many costumes in the Wedding episode it can be hard to follow without the episode playing.

Any news yet on the bowtie?
I can't seem to find ANY navy bowties that I am happy with anywhere.
I love the two versions he wears through sereis 6.

Nope sorry Thorneyboy, but that is incorrect. I have both Crushed Black and the Vintage Aged Spark they are very different and the pics below show that he wore the waxy vintage aged spark denim in A Christmas Carol and TIA/DOTM and the crushed black in TDWW

A Christmas Carol:

There is also a third variation that of G-Stars worn in The Girl Who Waited with no buckle in the back:

I have spent the entire week researching TGWW jeans and I have been through every style of G Star slim, straight and tapered jeans and not one, except the Raw Blade jeans has the unique 3 back beltloop layout. This suggest to me that they are modifed (Buckle removed) jeans. Someone did suggest they were G Star Raw 3301 jeans, but alas no.

I found a website selling Blade Slim Spark Denim 3D Aged with a few sizes listed as in stock [30, 32, 33]. Downside is delivery address must be in Japan. :cry
Anyone able to take delivery and send some on to needy costume fans?? I want the 33 please. :love

That sucks.
I just got my pair of Blade crushed black jeans from Amazon. Great jeans and still screen-accurate.

I wouldn't worry about it because the plainer black were used last in the Christmas episode so are the most up to date style really. Could all be different after the weekend if the press get a shot of Matt in his new Series 7 costume when filming starts on Monday and then the race is on to ID a new pair of jeans. :wacko

Do we know for sure there are going to be changes to his costume?
I REALLY hope they keep the tweed. It would drive me crazy to have to get another one:wacko

The stunt man should be wearing the same jeans. The black button on the right rear pocket can still be seen the same as on Matt's and there don't look to be any rivets either. Don't know if that matches any Blade style ever made. None I've found look like that at all. Are these the same ones used in TGWW? So sorry I have no conclusion just more confusion. :eek :lol

The BBC did let a complete costume go for Children in Need and would they do that if the tweed and shiny jeans were going to be needed much this year? If they only have one tweed and the greatcoat left then they will need something new as well for an eight month shoot. I still think the tweed will be used because that really is the classic Matt Smith look.

I have found these trousers.

Those jeans in the pic I posted look very much like G-Star Bronson Chino. With labels removed of course to hide the identity. If anyone wants some they do look to be easily found around the interweb. :)

I already ID these very early on as the Bronson Chinos, but trust me that particular pair is not easily found on the internet. Did you read my ID post on another site as not long ago you were stumped with what style they were and all of a sudden you simply say the look like blah blah blah. If you knew what they were why not say so previously. However I was lucky enough to snag a pair from evil bay.

Here is my post from previous about these:

Doctor Who Cosplay and Costuming - New G Star Trouser ID.....

Wind in the paranoia. :lol :rolleyes No I never read past posts about the jeans. This whole costume business has just been a very recent thing that got my interest.

Very true that not long ago [err today in fact] I was stumped what the jeans were. Then you know what, I did some LOOKING. Because I watched The Rebel Flesh and found a good shot of the jeans yesterday. I posted that here because it might be of some help. Today I browsed some websites and there were jeans that looked just like them. So again I post that here because it might be of some help.

I didn't say so before because I didn't KNOW before. In fact you were the one who posted a message which simply said I HAVE FOUND THESE TROUSERS with no other information given. Why not say what they were?

This is not a competition. Not in my eyes anyway. You can have the acclaim and praise that no doubt goes with the difficult problem of finding a website with a picture of jeans on. Its all you. You are the costume master. I should have realised. :facepalm

Can anyone please post some HD pics of the blue bowtie from Impossible Astronaut? Not the 'Aztec' version, but the 'denim pattern' version.
I am trying to find a close enough fabric to have one custom made unless I can persuade Magnoli to make them...

This is the blue one worn in The Impossible Astronaut, Rebel Flesh/Almost People and Wedding of River Song.

Forgive me if I don't risk any guess on what brand it is again. :behave

Thanks Columbo. That's a really good shot it not only shows some great detail on the tie, but on the shirt!

I NEED THIS BOWTIE!! Any chance we could find out where it came from?
I am also racking my brain on the blue shirt he wears in s6. It looks like a plain blue, but a closer look on my Blu Ray reveals it has more going on with a weave. Any chance of finding out where it came from??

No idea where the tie came from. The blue shirt is a custom but pretty easy to find a good substitute for. It's a basket weave oxford withe the same details as the other Series 6 shirts.

That striped shirt has a diamond/arrowhead pattern woven on it and some details woven into the fabric between the smaller stripes. Kind of incredible since this kind of detail would never ever been seen by anyone unless looking at a photo like this.

Also the tab is attached to the collar pretty far back and only to the underside of the collar which would account for why the collars look much more pulled together than a normal tabbed collar shirt.

This shirt and the checked shirt are going to need to be re-woven if we are ever to get something close to screen accurate. Damn.

I'm going to Steve Ricks for the shirt pictured above (The "Utah" shirt) and waiting to hear back from him.
As for the checkered or "window" shirt, I found a perfect substitute at JC Penny for $8 on clearence:
Adjustthoseties2.jpg

It appears to have the same color lines (blue) and is the best "close enough" I have seen of it yet...and it was SUPER cheap.

modernboy, do you have any links to blue shirts that you would suggest as a best off the rack alternative??

I don't have any suggestions for off the rack. Mine is custom.

Steve's shirt is a great alternative. I'm just pointing out these new details that I hadn't noticed before.
