From earlier in the thread it seems they were developing it with approval from Disney but then things fell through. So they might just be renaming it as like a Pirate Ship or something.

Spoke to the wholesaler here in Australia and has told me there stock will be in around November, December.

Looking through caps of film 1 looks like the forward ladder is off center and the aft ladder before the main mast may be missing all together.
Once on the lower deck with the forward ladder there is a step down then another ladder to the next deck down (cargo hold), this is in the scene where Elizabeth goes to rescue the crew of the Interceptor.

In several scenes in 2-3 there is grating over the ladder openings.
Seen in 2 there is the opening to the lower cargo hold in the gun deck where they hoist the powder and rum during the fight with the Kraken.

Other notes. the wheel stand needs grating under it and the stand it's self needs to be modified some.

Well I've moved the forward ladder opening over about half an inch and removed the skylight and am in the process of rebuilding the box for it with angled ends.
I just made a silicon press mold of one of the small gratings so if it works out it can be used for under the wheel.

Probably later tonight or tomorrow I will try casting up some decking to fill in the missing areas and rough out the new wall.

Probably faster than it took to the US (under 2 weeks)

Well my latex molds didn't work out so I made some in silicon and cast up some pieces.
next up filling in the deck where I moved pieces and starting on the wall.

i started in on mine yesterday...but i am building mine straight out of the box.

i think it's really cool how "division" is making his 99.9% accurate, and i can often be in this mode as well, but for some reason, the "out of box" is close enough for me on this particular kit...perhaps because in large part because i was never able to discern all the subtle differences in ship design from movie to movie...and/or maybe because i couldn't soak in all the detail simply because the ship itself has so much detail.

my biggest concern is whether i have the patience/skill to do all the string rigging work...i really want to do this as it looks wonderful and really adds an authentic look to the ship.

if anybody has any helpful tips to share on how to approach the rigging, please say so and/or steer me to a web site that might help me out. Thanks.

I'll try to post some progress pics this weekend. i hope anyone else building this model will do the same.

I think I'm more a glutton for punishment more than anything.:lol

The rigging instructions that come with the kit are pretty straight forward.
There are a couple books out there on model ship building and some on the rigging of real ships.

If you have the time I'd suggest going over to the Fine Scale Modeller forum and looking though the ship section for information.

I was going to just build it straight OTB as well, but that back wall would call to me at night...

"Make me straiiiighhttttt..."

So I started making the modifications. And of course, the main and upper decks had to be corrected as well. What a can of worms! I also fixed the ship's wheel and skylight. I am already buried anyway. Right?

You can use the "extra" statues from the stand for the two that are supposed to be on the rear bulkhead. (I am going to put it on a walnut base anyway). They are not EXACT, but close-enough for me. I found some correctly-sized vintage window frames in my spares box. They came from an old HO model building. I just have to scratch the center door.

I can't find a good pic of that door. Anyone?

I have been rigging sailing ship models for a looong time. A couple of tips...

-Where possible, I reinforce the masts with steel rods. That way, when you pull the rigging tight, there is less chance of deforming the masts.

-Coat ALL rigging with bee's wax. You can buy a small cake of it at Wal Mart. Humidity and temperature change will make the lines sag over time. The wax will help stop that.

-When you are SURE you are done with a knot, hit it with a drop of ACC. That will ensure that nothing works loose.

-Get a couple very-long tweezers or fine jeweler's pliers. They are invaluable for tying knots behind other lines that are in the way. Which WILL happen.

A LOT.

Practice tying knots with them on some scrap pieces, like the kit sprues... before you get to the model.

thanks for the tips, guys...i will make sure i have the proper tools and will review fine scale web site for further tips. also, reinforcing masts with steel rods good idea, steve...thanks.

also, funny how you both correct one thing, which then leads to another things that has to be fixed...etc etc -- been there before...and the expression "in for a penny in for a pound" always comes to mind.

thank GOD my mind is not calling out to me to revise anything on this kit! :)

as i said, it's gonna be fun seeing if i can get through the maze of string rigging! i would probably be better off just making it up as i go!

your efforts to taunt me into kit revisions have failed, my dear division6 :)

i wish i could explain why i'm okay with out-of-box on this one (could be age, could simply be that i'm just straight out lazy)

but i do hope you guys post pics of your mods and builds because i'd love to see them.

ALSO, any tips on best place to get acrylic case for this, because if i'm gonna spend 10 years doing all the string rigging, you can bet your poop deck i'm gonna want to keep dust away from this baby.

Not meant to taunt my friend just posting as per SDS's request.
My problem is I like to customize so I never finish anything. LOL
That and I have to order all my supplies on line.

Straight out of the box it will be an awesome build.

Depending on where you are you can look into shops that do custom work in plex or you could make one yourself using "L" shaped wood edging and glass or plex cut to shape.
