1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Just so you know, polycarbonate, while being more expensive, is easier to bend and curve without any heating than plexiglas. It's also a lot stronger.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I've been working on the rocker knobs. I'm hoping to get 5 perfect casts of the "common" rocker and create a final mold to cast the 50+ knobs I will need for the cockpit / MF.

Using putty to fill in the imperfections

These rockers are everywhere... I'm going to have to tent the place! ;)

I tried the compressed air on the glass tiles... POP! It wasn't difficult... but I'll need extra hands and a LOT more compressed air!

Picked up a few more of these things...

Hi Gang,

Created the master mold for the rocker knobs and finished all 101 pieces... Now comes the sanding! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Looks like a ton of work cant wait to see it done!

Hi Chuck... Thanks for taking the time to comment. :) OH YES... LOTS of work yet to come. I can't wait to see it finished either! But it's definately a fun process! Unfortunately, the car set me back a hefty chunk of change so I have to build the account back up. BOOOOO

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

H Gang,

GREAT NEWS!!! I just received an email from a LED distributor. Check this out... For only $250... I can get 850+ 12v, prewired, 3MM, Flat Top LEDs with chrome holder in Red, Blue, Yellow and White. Half of the LEDs will be pre-wired to flash as well! That's a DANG good price! Might have to sacrifice a little more $$$... :) I need to work out a few more details. Nice to have some good news!

Also, I was able to successfully remove a few of the glass tiles using the compressed air. With this success, since I'm recreating the instrument panels (I'm adding more depth to allow for wiring, LEDs, etc) I'm going to use the current instrument panels and begin testing the 3mm plastic tiles with a backlight! :)

Hi Gang,

Did a little work on the 3D printed Vickers Vent. Since the original had curves in the body to accommodate the "Vent" I had to remove those curves to make the edges even. I'll adhere a piece of plastic and paint to match...

For those who don't know... the Vickers Vent (which is also R2's holoprojector) is seen just to the left and right of the view screen

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I'm pleading COMPLETE ignorance on this one... I've been looking on line on HOW to illuminate this button. Can anybody help me out? I've been tinkering with the idea to use these on the main console instead of the picture frame bumpers I painted white...

Original Idea - I think illuminated buttons would add to the overall design. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I you have a part number and manufacturer (or good scans of the text) on the switch I can probably get the data sheets for it and tell you what's what.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey Sofa King I am building an F-16 simulator and there
are some buttons that look a lot like that in the cockpit.
I go to Viperpits.org . They have a lot of info on wiring over
there so you want have a look. They almost look like
Korry switches.

I found this earlier today. This is the exact 5 pin setup on the illuminated buttons I have

Hi H,

WOW! A F-16 sim? You should really post build pics! Would love to see your progress. Thanks for the great info. I'll definitely check it out! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I might just have to do that. I've been working on the front panel now
so I've got a lot to go:D . I love what you're doing though. When I was
a kid I started building a falcon cockpit but with the skills I had it really
didn't go that far. Now that I've grown up (and became a machinist)
my skill sets have matured a little. To bad there's not a Star Wars sim out
there you could hook up a projector for the out the window view and
have all the switches and displays work in the cockpit.
