1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

UPDATES! I finally got around to reapplying the pin stripes. I still have a little ways to go. I've applied a few stripes on the really bad panel and I'm waiting to see how they turn out before going any further.

The slider panel

GREAT NEWS!

The pin striping held! I'll finish the striping when I get home this afternoon and chalk two more panels finished (mostly)...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I never miss a post on these updates. Fantastic creative work here!

I've been meaning to ask this... Where can I get tall aluminum handles to make some dashboard throttle sticks? I've been looking at leg pistons and things like that, but coming up with nothing.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Nice looking pics, as usual. So hey... When it comes time to build the full scale Chris Lee falcon, will you be involved with that?

Hi DJ,

Thanks much... I spend too much time at the home imrpovement stores, art stores and specialty stores walking the aisles hoping to find some greeblies that match the original set designs...

To help with the throttle pistons... There are several way to create your own. First, you can lathe them out of wood or metal. That's probably the best way... Another is to use bolts, misc sized washers and a strong adhesive. Once you get the basic shape down you fill all the crevaces, to include the bolt pattern, with a strong metal specific putty then sand smooth. Many members have used this method to create the round "pen like" objects found on the imperial officer uniforms.

I hope that makes sense and helps? :)

Hi T,

I certainly hope so! lol While what I'm doing is fun... I can't wait until the actual build starts! Chris and I should be meeting up very soon to discuss several MF related projects including conventions and promotions.

This is gonna be so sweet!

Hi Mr. F,

Thanks so much! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

You sould be setting up this console at conventions (when done), it will really make people notice and get some serious "buzz" going about the MF project! I can't tell you how inspiring and fun it is to watch your progress. Thanks for sharing this with us, and bringing the fule scale project to my attention, I had no idea this was being done until I saw this thread. Great Job :thumbsup

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi BD,

You hit it right on the mark! Once the console and surround are finished we're planning on taking it to the SciFi shows to help promote the build. We're going to get all the LEDs done correctly so they flash, dim, etc... Should be very exciting!

Thank for the very kind words. Please feel free to offer up ideas and opinions. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Waiting for the first molds to cure

Fund raising trick. A cons and shows let people take photos of themselves in the cockpit for a donation to the Full Scale Falcon.
