Best Disney Movies

I've seen all of Disney's classic animated full-length movies except for Cinderella (1950) and Sleeping Beauty (1959). They're definitely worth seeing at least once, but I can't say I could watch any of them repeatedly with the same amount of enjoyment and/or enthusiasm.

As for the movies on my list, the only one I didn't seen in a theater when it was initially released was 101 Dalmatians. Hell, I predate the advent of color television sets being a common household item. :D I remember Disney movies being a "big thing" when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, so I saw more of them than I really wanted to; Disney was more "hit" than "miss" with their movies in those days, but sometimes not by much. If you're interested, I'd suggest you start with the obvious favorites such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, etc., and then ease into the more popular live action movies of those eras such as Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and so on.
No, sorry about that, I meant I haven't seen the classic live action ones. But that's really cool you got to see the classics as they came out, I wish I could say that I had the honor, but sadly no. I own some of the more famous classics because I decided to get all the diamond editions on blu ray because I love anything Disney. My favorite classics are sword in the stone, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Robin Hood. I honestly don't think I'll ever see a film that even resembles Fantasia ever again, it's so unique, not even it's own sequel begins to compare, I honestly don't even know my opinion of it as a movie, but I treasure it all the same. But to me I consider Disney to have far more hits than misses, but I might just be ignorant, haha.

I'm always going to go with 20,000 Leagues and Swiss Family Robinson. Two of my most beloved childhood movies.

As for animated ones for me it would probably Pinnochio and 101 Dalmations.

I remember seeing a Snow White rerererelease in the theater when I was a small child in the early seventies and remember the witch scared be pretty badly. I recently watched it again and while I certainly can appreciate it for what it was and what it did, I'll have to say I really didn't care for it too much as an adult. The basic story is about ten minutes long and the rest is just filler, songs and slapstick. I understand this was in the days of vaudeville and all, but the dwarfs antics are borderline Jar Jar to me. The animation is awesome, there is no doubt about that, but other than the stuff with the wicked stepmother/witch I thought it was extremely boring.

I know exactly what you mean, for me I was terrified of the witch as a small child, and even though I own it, I just can't watch it, I don't even know why, in the back of my head I just say it's not good, but that's being really unfair of me, without this, I have no idea what I'd be doing right now, there would be no legacy, no Mickey, no simba, no Kuzco, no Elsa. It's weird looking back on this one if only because it's the most significant.

...I do have a nostalgic fondness for The Black Hole and Tron, but can't in good consciousness call them "great"
I feel the same way. In fact, I can't even say I'd recommend them to anyone who hasn't seen them; the best I could do is to say I like them flaws and all, and suggest they watch them and decide for themselves.

Great Thread - fun reading all the movies we have liked over time.

Tron - Tron Legacy - Jungle Book and of course love me some Wall E

I have to go against the grain and say that I truly disliked Beauty and the Beast. Having a 6 year old little girl I have seen more than my fair share of Tangled and Frozen and quite enjoy them!

I'll be honest, I've never like beauty and the beast either, I find way to overrated and I think Gaston is the most boring villian ever, and I love the recent Disney movies.
