Combining two of my loves, music and movies, what would you consider your favorite movie soundtrack?

Joshua C.

I wouldn't say it was my favorite but I really loved Drive's soundtrack and the film was very good.
The track "under your spell" is really nice.

The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Close Encounters, Jaws, Blade Runner, Star Trek III, Road Warrior, Blue Thunder, Little Shop Of Horrors and The Mosquito Coast

Shoot, you name it, and I love it.

Some special favorites:

Movies:

Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy
Superman: the Movie
The Last Starfighter
The Ghost and the Darkness
Legend (both soundtracks)
Labyrinth
Conan the Barbarian
Serenity
The Lost Boys
John Carter
King Arthur
Gladiator
The Princess Bride
Dungeons and Dragons (the movie sucked, but the score is awesome)
Iron Eagle
The Neverending Story
Ghostbusters
Highlander
Star Trek I-IV, VI, and First Contact
Jurassic Park

Some TV Favorites:

Firefly
Buffy (soundtracks and score)
Angel
Miami Vice
Primeval

Video Game Favorites:

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Of course when it comes to other movie music, you can't go wrong with Two Steps From Hell.

I would have a really hard time choosing between Tron Legacy and Iron Man.

Tron Legacy: is like a dream come true for me. One of my all time favorite bands composing an original soundtrack for a science fiction movie. Also, it was like a match made in heaven. Two french guys who think they are robots stuck inside the mainframe of a computer DJing in an underground club for all of eternity.

Iron Man: was just flat out awesome. Ramin Djawadi killed the composition for that movie. Driving With The Top Down was perfect for that part of the movie, and I still get goosebumps every time I watch that scene in the movie.

I love a ton of movie soundtracks and I really enjoy movies with classical pieces, but those two movies are definitely tied for first in my book.

Honorable mention: Hans Zimmer.

There's plenty! Here's a few that always come to mind..

Star Wars OT
Indiana Jones
Jurassic Park (just about any John Williams soundtrack)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Mummy

Also, most Tarantino movies. Although for the most part they aren't ost.

Okay we've had this discussion before. Is a soundtrack the music, like the Footloose soundtrack would be, or is it the score like LOTR would be?

For me it would be those classic 80s films. Pretty much anything Kenny Loggins did. Footloose, Top Gun, Caddyshack, etc. runner up would be the Transformers animated film.

If it's the score, it the BTTF score.

The scores Joe Hisaishi did for Miyazaki do it for me, especially, "Laputa: Castle in the Sky", "Spirited Away", "My Neighbor Totoro", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Princess Mononoke" and ""Porco Rosso".

Superman
The Omega man
Transformers (1986) and i'm glad i'm not the only one who enjoys this 80s goodness.
2001
BTTF
Footloose
Batman (1989)
Other than that it's mostly songs from soundtracks and not entire ones.

Lately I've been listening to the Master and Commander OST almost constantly on my MP3 player at work.

Before that it was a "mix tape" I did of tracks from NuBSG, Peter Gabriel's Passion and the OST of Passion of the ******.
