Thanks again.

I had owned a few jewelers screw drivers that looked very much like it, but now that we can see that it had two LEDs and was hollow, I lean toward it being a tube that is machined to look this way.

Any one that has build a few kits can tell you the real work is the sanding, fitting , and painting and then final assambly.[/b]

Pretty much like any unlicenced kit, then?

Didn't you claim the Hartford was a recast of one of yours, too?

I don't see you ragging on them all the time, but I guess they don't produce a metal gun for a fraction of the price of yours? :angel

I have an LED bore scope that looks a bit like that piece -- knurled texture and everything. If there's interest I'll take a photo.

Any speculation on why that lame looking wire is on there?

Karl's pictures convinced my friend to get a PKD for her husband. I'm going to have to put together the Sidkit, I'll post a write-up when it's done.

Except that the one I posted is much bigger.

I think the prevailing theory on the white wires is that they were there to power the 2 green LEDs and were probably tucked under the casing/cover or painted black during filming.

Are those caps clear enough to tell whether they were cut already? I'm guessing since the green LEDs weren't ever shown lit up that maybe they never worked.

Unless mine eyes were playing tricks on me, the LEDs were indeed lit up during the Sebastian Home scenes. Particularly on the close ups right before Roy pulls Deckard's hand through the wall.

Come on Karl, have you even SEEN the movie?? :)

The shot show the wires uncut and longer and still seemly hooked up.

My thinking is they later cut them to reload for some pickup shots.

I would bet the wires were covered with black Gaffer Tape for that shot.

...and putting holes in the top of the barrel...silly idea that. Compensator within the gun body...under the bolt.[/b]

I don`t think it should be a Compensator to be honest.

In Germany a deactivated gun has a sliced or drilled barrel to make it legal for people without a weapon license - maybe the same in Italy.

Only LEP converted guns are an exception (LEP = Airgun conversion).

Well now Rich let’s be fair, evaluating the gun for its functionality is like analyzing Star Trek for its logic–the whole bolt assembly on the gun is surreal nonsense anyway. :)

Especially for a right-handed shooter. :D
I guess that's kinda what you meant Andres, but that aspect has been nagging me recently so I thought I'd post.

Howard.

Actually Howard I was thinking that the bolt system makes no sense because of the barrel location and the fact that the gun is surely the equivalent of an automatic or double-action.

I’d prefer some complex rationalization to the effect that it’s part of a maintenance system–for cleaning the electromagnets or replacing the uranium or whatever. ;)

Damn Matt, you found me out. I've never seen it but wanted to join the conversation after 39 pages. :cry :p

I always thought thought it looked like camera and light tricks to me.

That was a rubber stunt prop right before the hand is pulled though the wall, you can see the parting line on the top.

Rich

If you look at where the wires would have ran into the gun and then look at where they would have ended up against the trigger guard when the cylinder was opened for reloading it would not take much to damage them. Seems like all you would need to do is force the cylinder open a little (with the wires in place) and no more lights.

IÂ’ve looked at the film what seems like 100 times through the years and I canÂ’t say IÂ’ve ever seen anything to make me think they were working on camera.

Rich, if the past couple of weeks have taught you anything, it should have been that you should think things through before typing.

Though I don't have my screen cap software working, I'm talking about the close up of the gun as deckard is walking along the wet wall. And yes, the stunt is the one that is actually pulled through the wall. But that's not what I'm talking about.

I feel kind of sad that you took a good humored joke about seeing the movie and turned it into something personal, Rich. I'm sorry to see that my endeavors to dig for the truth in these threads and others over the years has lead you to aim venom like this at me. I guess it looks like we can NOT all get along :)

HOWEVER, with that said, I just watched the scene not one minute ago, and I'm no longer sure that they were lit up. It could just be light shining through the green part of the LED, ambient light. But they're there, that's for sure. Even worse, it looks as if the white wires may be cut off, just like they are in the WonderGun pictures.

I don't believe I've ever thought the Green LEDs were lit up, for the longest time I was one of the few that even believed there was one in the rear of the Dental tool thingy.

As for the wire, I had posted this earlier in this thread (I think...could have been another thread)
