You have never seen the Blade Runner blaster before - PHOTOS RESTORED

I have been asked to remove the photographs. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Horse. Stable door. Locking. :confused

Hope you's not in trouble? :(

But it nonetheless makes you feel like you tried to do something, no matter how small. The action is symbolic.

Phil[/b]

I didn't catch this before. Does this mean you asked him to pull the photos?

It's funny, as soon as this thread popped up I thought something like this would happen.

But really, what's the point in taking them down? Plenty of us saved them and eventually someone will leak them who won't care about the fact that they are Karl's photos.
[/b]

What's the point of arguing about it?

Karl did what HE thought was the right thing. His pics, his decision. I admire him for it. If you don't respect the owners of these items opinions and wishes, you will NEVER get access.

If the witch hunt mentally of the self appointed prop police would ease up, maybe we could pull a few more of these high end collectors into trusting a little more. But the huge red light that is shined on this when it happens only serves to make them run for cover.

If someone reposts them then they are scum.

Certainly they are already out to the clever enough to grab them while they could, if you didn't too bad. Should have been quicker.

Damn, this was probably one of the(if not THE) coolest threads since the final discoveries of the Obi Wan Saber last year. Well scratch that.

What a bunch of BS.

Can someone please PM the images?

Thanks for sharing the pics Karl.
I understand where you're coming from and respect your decision.

I'm so glad I took the time to save them before they went away :).

Thanks again, and take care,
Chris

I had nothing to do with it.

Please see my earlier modified post:

Ok that's FRACKIN ridiculous Phil, why would they get upset about something that doesn't even look like the end product without heavy modifications????.?.?

THIS kind of crap is why people get ticked with the hush-hush original prop collectors...

And don't get me wrong, I collect screen-used pieces as well, so I do understand both sides, but there's a fine line between being protective and being tryanical (for lack of a better word atm)....

talk about sour grapes...... :rolleyes

Oh and no Phil I'm not directing this at you specifically, so please excuse me if it feels that way.

EDIT: and who exactly would be.. "people at the very, VERY highest levels are involved"??? You're telling me Ridley Scott and/or the people that own the rights to the movie are upset about exposure of a prop from a movie from 1982.... ??

Man, I JUST got an Im from a guy:

"You need to take down your vacation pics of Japan
The Japanese are upset about them
Americans might see what the real Japan is like"

You'll just have to PM someone who saved them to the hardd drive. Sorry.

Being antagonistic doesn't help anyone's cause. It just strengthens the resolve of those who asked people not to share.

If we conduct ourselves with more dignity, and we don't belittle the feelings of others, maybe we'll get to play in their sandbox again some other day.

Are you talking about your feelings or the feelings of those "higher up?"

Based on what's happened here, I've even been asked to remove photos of the grips.

As I previously mentioned, several stakeholders are upset, and people at the very, VERY highest levels are involved.

If Tom Southwell hasn't already gotten a phone call, he probably will soon.

Can I ask what these individuals are at the highest levels of?
Karl's list of good friends he wants to keep?
Prop collecting?
Copyright law?
Studio management?
Income?
The bleedin' Freemasons?

I can't understand the decision, it just seems weird that some people (undoubtedly grey-haired, well-heeled besuited folks) are upset because the world -or maybe just a few hundred people in it- now knows and gives a flying tinker's cuss that there are two little screws in the left side of the mag and a bit of white wire hanging off.
I've seen a fair amount of crazy stuff happen on here, and the hits just keep on coming.
Nothing personal, I have to respect the Karl's decision and his wish that the pics are removed. But the reasoning behind it? Can someone from the very top of whatever contact the mere mortals down here with a convincing, clear and well-worded description of the motive behind the secrecy?

PM Sent.

To clarify the situation further: Richard Coyle contacted me yesterday and told me that the prop's owner had become aware of his plans to produce an "ultimate" replica blaster. Coyle says that the owner asked for "the photos to be taken down".

So while I have not been contacted directly by the owner, I am trying to comply with Coyle's request.

It's my personal opinion of the feelings of those "higher up."

I hope you don't think my JOKE was being antagonsitic, because frankly, if this hidden BR coven is that uptight, I really feel sorry for them. What a culture of worry they create. Sad.

I was primarily referring to people openly asking for and offering to share blaster photos. It would be cooler to do this all privately.

Hey, I just want to be able to see Japan from time to time without having to take a plane.
