Yet another new cinematography reel, check it out!

I know I released one in January but I've been filming something every day since so I've tripled the amount of footage to cut from this time around. Plus I figured since I'm about to head out to Cali to start work as director of photography on a theatrical feature it was time to share some more of what I've been doing. As usual, let me know what you think!

clearly you've got chops.

congrats on the dp gig!

forgive my forwardness,
how'd you find work, was it your reels? word of mouth? connections?
any clips of that autofocus rig you were going to try out?
how'd you get that 2 inch above the ground shot of the road rushing by?

congrats on the la-la-land gig!
I wish the guy who "photographed' my last project could see your reel and learn something about framing and following the action.

Thanks guys. It was the reels. I got an agent through my old reel, and it was easier to pick up jobs if I had something flash to show off. The wireless auto focus rig shoot is still a few months off. The 2 inch above the ground shot was a taken with a GoPro HD taped to the very lip of my boxster

Looks good! But I have to ask, do you know anything about lighting....not ambient, but lighting kits?

Being a DP, means you will have to direct the shoot not just be a camera op, which means directing your gaffer (lighting dude)... He will look to you for direction on how to light a scene.

You cannot shoot a feature without using artificial lights.

Just want to help out a fellow DP. :thumbsup

Glad you like it! Haha dude, you do realize that almost every single one of those shots had multiple 4X2 kinos, 2 650 HMI kits, not to mention the assorted tungsten arri and MR lights that fill every shot? Hell you can even see the part of the C stand flagging off the real sun light out side the kitchen in the reel. Or the shadow of the 12x12 butterfly kit above the large farm dolly? Trust me, I know my lighting. My gaffer for a couple of these shoots did Glory and Perfect Storm so no worries. That stage lighting alone gave us a distro nightmare. For the feature I start in a week (which will be my 3rd feature) we have 24k worth of light alone in one nighttime exterior. After that feature wraps it's back to ATX for a RED feature and then back up to Dallas to prep for a 35mm feature I shoot next July. And if you read the credits at the end you'll note I wasn't the camera op on every shot in the reel. Don't let my age fool you as it did the higher ups at Paramount Vantage. I do this full time so yes, I know lighting ;)
