X Factor(y) - 1:50 Scale Completed

Re: X Factor(y)

I'm sure this one will look every bit as lovely as your Hasbro conversion. I'm envious of guys like you that possess such talent!!

Excellent work!

Re: X Factor(y)

A bit more progress...

Added a bit more shading to the engines, though they still need work. Tried to tone down the green on the forward fuselage. Added more weathering in general. Trying to find just the right balance of weathering on all areas of the ship is tricky.

Re: X Factor(y)

I gotta ask... how many [Original Trilogy] X Wings do you have?

This could be a fun exercise...

Built or in progress:

1. Hasbro FX toy conversion
2. ERTL/AMT original/vintage 1:48-ish Red 3
3. ERTL/AMT original/vintage 1:72-ish
4. ERTL/AMT Pro-Shop Red 5
5. Revell Pocket Red 5
6. Revell 1:50 Red 5
7. Revell 1:29 Red 5

Unbuilt:
1. Hasbro FX toy
2. Maxi-Brute model rocket kit
3. Captain Cardboard SS kit
4. Salzo v.? SS kit
5. ERTL/AMT Pro-shop 001
6. ERTL/AMT Pro-shop 002
7. ERTL/AMT Pro-shop 003
8. ERTL/AMT original/vintage

I think that is it. I may have a fourth Pro-Shop, and maybe one or two other smaller straggler kits stuff away in there...

Re: X Factor(y)

Took a small cheat...

The insides of the engine cans offer no representation of the heat sinks whatsoever (the large 1:29 kit does).

So I just printed out some pictures of the original and stuck them in.

I think I'm done here...

Spectacular work Rob! The weathering is perfectly done, very balanced, which is something difficult to do on a smaller scale model like that. I'm jealous.

I was just wondering how many of these do you own.....but I see it was already answered on the last age...
You should make an amazing diorama or something.
....or at least for fun, set up a line of the x-wings, with the small ones far away with the wings opening up.....and now if you only had a death star to go in the background......

Wow you've definitely mastered the ILM painting method - whatever the secret to that is. Photo 9 for example looks like something straight out of the Sculpting a Galaxy book.

"Ron" 'Reacted' to this thread today (very much appreciated!)

Am replying to a nine-year-old thread as I have just YESTERDAY retained possession of all my X-wing models, including this one...

To Ron - thank you!

Still need to make a diorama, now that you have them.
Guessing you still haven't gotten the death star though....I would probably want that over most all the rest....of course, probably the hardest one to transport anywhere.
