'WonderWoman' Costume Changes After Fan Reactions

Yeah see that's what I see too.. A lady dressed like Wonder Woman. She looks like she came straight out of a comic book convention and decided to show off in public, but isn't Wonder Woman.

Whoever plays her needs to come off as the real deal. This just doesn't look like the full package Wonder Woman.

When you see Christopher Reeve dressed as Superman, I see Superman. He had the look and presence to fill the boots of such an iconic superhero.

I'm just not convinced this is our Wonder Woman.

MY question is, what is wrong with the guy!, If that were me standing there I would have a smile bigger then the frakking jokers!...
And I would have to photoshop my eyes looking straight aswell, because I am pretty sure they would be looking elsewhere!..

I'm guessing he's someone from the crew who's gotten used to seeing 'the twins' on display. My guess would be stunt choreographer or stunt man based on his athletic build and the warmups.

First I've seen of a bare legs version....even the supposedly changed version shown before had pants. This does look better. But the story...

Wonder Woman is an iconic character, I have no problems admitting it. But regardless of how well a story is written or how well an actress makes the part, it just seems silly to see a woman running around TODAY in what effectively looks like a strippers one piece bathing suit. Alot of people wouldn't buy it.

If there were no such thing as super heroes and I saw wonder woman running down the street rocking her outfit, i'd assume she was running late and that she was due on stage in 1 minute.

One of the tag lines for Donner's Superman was...
You'll believe a man can fly.

They have to sell it.
If you give good backstory why that costume looks like it does, it will be bought. And there is a backstory for it. The animated film handled it great.

I know but animated is so much more different then real life. In a cartoon, you know it's not real therefore things become more acceptable. I could see a giant dong running around fighting crime in a cartoon and i'd believe it because I knows it's not real. Thats why people make the arguement of heavy use of CGI in films, it takes the believeabilty (sp?) out of the film because it doesn't look real.

I don't get all the hate for a program that no one here has even seen!

I would've given it a chance - I enjoyed the Bionic Woman reboot and was kinda looking forward to this as well.

This costume is just the 2011 version of the 70s - no two ways about that in my mind. We'll never have the chance to see if this actress has the charm/elegance/grace of Linda Carter (if she really even had all that as WW at all). (...and frankly, this actress was hardly my pick for WW).

But, looks like some folks will just keep kicking a dead horse.

He's one of the actors in the pilot I believe. In the outdoor scenes that they filmed where all the location photos came from, he was the guy that Wonder Woman chased down and stabbed in the chest with some kind of syringe. I believe that's why the dude looks like one of the Watchers from Fringe.

I like the 'no pants' version better but yeah, it'd be 1,000 times better if it were just made of leather. And it'd be 1,000 times better than that if it were more along the lines of that other costume concept I posted before.

I listened to the full spoiler version from that guy that watched the pilot... it did sound pretty bad in that it's just not the spirit of Wonder Woman but I'd still have at least watched the pilot.

And despite what anybody says... stripper costume criticism or otherwise... I'd watch Adrianne Palicki if she was wearing dirty sackcloth :lol

Don't get me wrong, i'd watch the pilot, but only because she's running around in her gentlemans club crime fighting costume hahaha

Meh. I agree with the whole "Just looks like someone's costume from a con."

At first I was thinking "I wonder who on the boards that is..." until I noticed all the green screen behind her.

If the WW costume looks like it's from a con, the Batman Begins costume looks like it's from my 6 year-old nephew's halloween party! :lol

It's sad that I think this fan-made costume that showed up at Wil's table during ECCC is better than what a Hollywood production could come up with. Just the fact that the metal pieces actually appear to be metal is a huge improvement.

Yep. My point. The "professional" costume honestly looks to me like a pretty well done con costume, or a higher-end stripper costume. I think some of it's casting, too. The actress in the costume is pretty, sure. But she ain't Wonder Woman. Her physique is all wrong, and the fact that "the twins" are featured so prominently and in a way that, at least to my eyes, makes 'em look "enhanced" (no idea if they are, just saying how it looks to me) only further takes this into "One of the ladies from the escort service" territory.

"Let me hear your pitch."
"Wonder Woman."
"Wonder who ?"
"Wonder Woman, the comic book heroine ?"
"Never read comic books, was too busy doing grown-up stuff like earning money *smirks* But please, do go on ..."
"Well, this is about an Amazon."
"The shop ?"
"Pardon ?"
"The Internet bookstore ?"
"No, Amazons, the warrior women, as in the ancient Greek myths and legends."
"Yes, King Arthur and Queen Victoria stuff ..."
"*sighs* Ok so we have this island set up by the Greek gods where immortal Amazons can live in peace and harmony."
"Greek gods ?"
"Athena, Gaia, Hera ..."
"*frowns*"
"Now, they have a queen and she desires a child, but because there are only women on the island."
"Is this a gay show ?"
"No, it's not about Lesbians, not really. It's about the daughter of the Queen of Themyscira, who is made from clay and brought to life."
"Ancient Gods, magic, I get it, it's a comedy."
"No, it's serious."
"Gods, magic, that's fantasy, the stupid funny-haha version of Syfy."
"It's supposed to be serious. So our girl grows up to be Wonder Woman who is sent to the outside world to be an emissary of peace to teach us the values of the amazons as well as fight crime and save the world."
"Busy agenda."
"She has many divine gifts, like Super Strength, she can talk with animals, has the beauty of Aphrodite the Wisdom of Athena, speed of Hermes etc."
"A kind of Superwoman."
"Yes."
"*Steeples fingers* This show has been done before ..."
"Yes in the 70's with Lynda Carter."
"No it's a lift from that other show, Xena."
"Actually you'll find that they borrowed a lot from Wonder Woman."
"Are you sure ?"
"WW has been around since the 1940's ..."
"Anyway it doesn't sound very promising. I see a lot of flaws."
"Like what ?"
"Greek Gods and all that, we have a lot of Christian sponsors ... Besides it would save us a fortune on costumes."
"But it's inherent to the character ..."
"Can't we just say she was bitten by say, a radioactive animal, a Rottweiler, or a secret government program."
"That's a lot of changes ..."
"You have to understand that audiences today like familiarity, something close to their own daily experience. I see some costume sketches ?"
"Yes, that's the character as seen in the comics ..."
"She wears a bathing suit ?"
"It's not a bathing suit, it's a symbolic costume of ..."
"And it's got the American Flag all over it. That's not going down well with overseas ratings ..."

Some weeks later.

"I had some of my people make a few changes, but we kept the essence of the character."
"The main character is a man ..."
"Yes, but it doesn't change a thing, have kept the important bits. It's about a rogue CIA agent - of Greek descent - who was given telepathic powers so that he can tell if somebody is lying ... and to keep the female angle we partnered him with a female, but wait for it ... She is a ROBOT !"
"*slaps forehead ...*"
"*smugly* You can really feel the original tone and still have something completely unique, huh *grins*"

REVIEW__Wonder_Woman_Pilot

As Wonder Woman/Diana Themyscira/Diana Prince, Adrianne Palicki was a revelation. I was already a big fan of hers from Friday Night Lights but here she takes center stage and pulls off what is an extremely difficult role. She’s tough, she’s charming, she’s sexy, she’s vulnerable, and she’s got a little bit of an angry edge to her when she’s Wonder Woman that adds just a dash of exciting unpredictability. This could have been a star making turn for Padlicki who certainly deserves one.

The Wonder Woman on this show is a badass who is not above choking dudes with her lasso (her favorite move) or throwing a piece of pipe through your throat if you won’t stop shooting at her. For a weekly television show, the action scenes were fairly well executed and at times quite thrilling. The whole final sequence where she storms Veronica Cale’s compound and decimates her ‘roided out super-soldier army is really fun to watch.

The streamlining of the script really worked in the pilot’s favor. The story moved much quicker than it read. For example, in the script, Diana spent a long sequence testifying before the United States Congress about her vigilante activities, which allowed for long and droning speechifying on both sides. That would have been really boring on screen. In the pilot, that sequence is swapped out for a scene in which she has dinner with one sleazy congressman. The same information about the government being uneasy with Wonder Woman’s activities was conveyed in a much quicker, and more compelling, way.

WTF? She kills people?! I thought Maxwell Lord was the only person she ever actually killed. And it cost her dearly.

You know, I am sorry Adrianne, 'cause she gave all her best to be Wonder Woman. But I think, it was a bad idea to get Kelley on the script with the syringe and changes. As well as the Halloween hooker costume play didn't helped either.

Why is Superman the Movie still so popular? Because Donner, Mankiewicz and Puzo treated the source with respect. Though some changes were made, like Krypton being a crystalline technology society, and the ship like a star, it was all like the cultural memory knows it.

If only some in Hollywood would do the same, updating her costume with leather, metal gaunlets and keep the mythology the same, it would have been a nice "reboot". I can't understand why it is so hard to no to respect the source?!
