'WonderWoman' Costume Changes After Fan Reactions

You couldn't have worded it any better than YenChih did. Respect the source material and not make it look cheesy doing it. What the hell is so hard with that concept, seriously.

You know, I am sorry Adrianne, 'cause she gave all her best to be Wonder Woman. But I think, it was a bad idea to get Kelley on the script with the syringe and changes. As well as the Halloween hooker costume play didn't helped either.

Why is Superman the Movie still so popular? Because Donner, Mankiewicz and Puzo treated the source with respect. Though some changes were made, like Krypton being a crystalline technology society, and the ship like a star, it was all like the cultural memory knows it.

If only some in Hollywood would do the same, updating her costume with leather, metal gaunlets and keep the mythology the same, it would have been a nice "reboot". I can't understand why it is so hard to no to respect the source?!
I'm glad you were able to watch an entire series (that was never made) and able to judge it so openly and honestly (without ever seeing it).

We don't know what would've happened with the series.

Well, WW could be a hit, if treated right… Why don't they show us the pilot? And then let the open fans say, what they liked and didn't like… TSCC supposely did that with that "leaked" pilot.

Have you read New Frontier?

No. I mean, admittedly, I've never been a huge WW fan. Nothing against her, I just didn't really read it much. I gather that the mythology has shifted around quite a bit over the years, depending on which universe you're in and such. But still, the basic premise of this just seems...off. At least off from my concept of what WW is, hazy though that may be. That's the thing, though. I think that the producers were trying to take what most people's hazy concept of WW is, and then move away from that in an effort to "update" her and make her "more accessible for modern audiences." Like, they wanted to do what Nolan's done with Batman by "grounding it more in reality/modernity", which works ok for Nolan (I know not everyone likes his approach), but what they picked seemed based more on their own experiences as writers/producers/marketers.

"Let's make her a CEO and public face of a company! We know about that stuff! It'll be great!"

I mean, I know you're the type who gives lots of entertainment a chance, but I think the network's move here was based on the notion that more people out there wouldn't, once they heard about the premise. It wouldn't work for the hardcore fans who'd see it as a betrayal. But it also wouldn't work for the casual fans or the merely curious who'd say "Wait, she's doing WHAT in this? That doesn't sound like WW to me..." even though they don't know as much about WW.

Minor point, but while I generally enjoyed the show as a standalone product, I'm not sure you'd want to replicate TSCC's performance on network TV...

Well, the effects are not done for one. I'm hoping it leaks (and apparently, it's starting to get out.. in (cough) certain circles.

I understand most folks desire to retain or stay true to the character. Sometimes I can get pretty nitpicky about certain things, too.

I was intrigued by the WW idea because of one certain idea that I don't think has been explored enough (at least in video adaptions)... taking a superhero and treating them as a rock star/celebrity type. I do believe you can take the Wonder Woman character with that idea and still stay true to the basics of the character herself.

If you look at superheroes in general, they are already wearing outlandish costumes that many a rockstar might wear. They're already half way there.

I never really understood folks' problem with the costume. It looks perfectly acceptable to my eyes... did it look like a con costume? Maybe. Was it shiny? Sure, what's wrong with that? Were the metal pieces not-so-metal looking? I guess, but wouldn't that translate differently on TV?

It's a shame we'll never get a chance to see this series on television. We'll never get to see if Paradise Island and other parts of the mythos make the series. It's a shame girls like my niece won't get a chance to see a female superhero on the screen... she got her first WW t-shirt 2 weeks ago at a con (and wore it this morning!).

her implants are pushed up so they look too round, I thought this actress was hot but her politics got in the way

Excuse the potentially silly question, but has this aired ?

And did they go for the mini, or trousers ? (or is it a Summer / Winter unifrom thing :lol)

AFAIK, they only filmed a pilot and it was shot down.

That teaser sucked, looked like she was sucking on a lemon.

From what I've read they've been shopping the pilot around to see if anybody else would take it. I'm betting it goes the route of the never aired but available Aquaman pilot Mercy Reef...

Yeah I was at ECCC in Seattle and that gal looked awesome as Wonder Woman:

Pretty basic and not too flashy, but it stood out among the crowd!

Wow, just... wow.

Stealing Superman's tagline is bad enough, but she just comes off as... petulant. Wonder Woman should NOT be petulant!

Y'know, it wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination but it was truly no worse than any given episode of Smallville as far as acting or writing goes. It was actually a lot like watching Smallville IMHO (which I feel completely justified in saying considering I watched ALL 10 seasons).

And ditto what firesprite just said... Wonder Woman shouldn't be petulant.

The criticisms the one guy had about the rope visual effects just shows ignorance IMHO. I imagine most folks here understand that pre-release stuff don't always have the final visual effects in place, same with the music which was obviously a placeholder.

The only part that I had a serious gripe about was her impaling the security guard through the neck with that pipe. Wonder Woman would simply not do that.

I'd like to see the whole thing despite all of its shortcomings. Even if it isn't good, it'd be interesting to watch the whole thing. They should finish it and release it on iTunes the way they did with the failed Smallville wannabe Aquaman pilot (aka "Mercy Reef"). It sucked too but I was still willing to pay a couple of bucks to check it out.

That looked horrid (not the temp effects but in general) and she always looks ticked off. These writers seem to always not have an understanding of the character like the studio throws them the job but they don't research it. Even in a grittier real world I doubt she'd go around impaling folks.
