Wonder Woman cast

The fanboy in me is pretty pissed about this creative direction. It's not even wonder woman, not even a little bit. They are creating a whole new character and mythology and riding on the iconic name.

You're surprised? This is common practice in Hollywood now. Take a well-known brand, and use it to sell your generic and otherwise crappy product.

And you know what? This works. It works ALL THE TIME. It works because the "powers that be" know the strength of the brand will overcome any skepticism of the fans, at least enough for them to "give it a chance" in spite of hearing info like this.

That was in response to DD's wondering what direction they were going to take the show.

No, sorry; I meant the quality of the writing and of the screentest. That's some crazy stuff that has nothing to do with Wonder Woman. I was willing to check it out as I loved The Practice and Boston Legal, but this early stuff makes it sound silly.

LOL. Yeah... I really enjoy watching Boston Legal (though admittedly, that's mostly to see what Shatner will do next) but I despised Ally McBeal and this looks like more of the same to me, unfortunately.

Yeah, but then they'll blame the BRAND not the sh**ty concept they chose to slap the brand ON.

"I told you a Wonder Woman show wouldn't work!"

"No, just not YOUR Wonder Woman show!"

Why even call it Wonder Woman? At least when i pitched DC a Kamandi revamp as a sort of TRON-lite, at least I kept the talking animals. :lol

Loose Cannon: Issue #36 - Comic Book Resources

I'd like to see a remade of Kamandi. Then again i'd love to see more of the original than i have lol. Anyhow there are alot of actresses out there who would be much better. We'd be better off if the guy who came up with Buffy wrote it.

this would have been my choice Missy Peregrym :love

i wanted this pretty girl as Bella from twilight. waaay better lookin, plua love her on Rookie Blue

Igh....

After reading how they are going to handle the characters, I think I am going to pass on this one.

Diana Prince, or Wonder Woman needs to be written as a strong female lead. She was created by the gods, and is on par with Superman as far as sheer strength and power goes. She is not the type of woman who wonders "does my butt look big in this?" while kicking the crap out of someone. Even in the comics from a few years ago when they did the "human as Diana" idea, she was still a field agent in the DC equivalent of SHIELD. She is not a pushover by any means.

Other than the freaky bondage/s+m subtext to the earlier comic works, there hasn't been any real effort to make her anything other than a warrior. She's the woman you love, want as a girlfriend, but also want to be held and comforted and probably responsible for most of the Oedipal complexes in the DC universe if you go by the last 15 years of how she's written. She's a complex character and seeing that boiled down to "Generic Female Lead with Generic Female self esteem issues" is just bad.

I hate to judge something before I get the chance to see it, but man this is not the way to handle the property. She ain't buffy the vampire slayer, she's a demigod/Amazon warrior. Not really someone who worries about how breast size.

I've been wondering to myself, has American culture changed so much that creating a somewhat faithful incarnation of Wonder Woman would be viewed as sexist or something? I mean, is the show from the '70s considered sexist or offensive now because of that costume Lynda Carter wore?

I've actually got the first season of the old show on DVD and my 5 year old daughter loves watching it. My wife just rolls her eyes at it but I just don't understand the aversion to something remotely faithful. Would mainstream America seriously melt down if we had an updated version of the '70s show (without the campy aspect but with a somewhat faithful costume)? I mean, yeah, maybe the costume is unrealistic but how realistic is a guy who dresses like a bat or an alien who wears red and blue spandex or a guy with the powers of a spider that dresses like a mardi gras parade reject? (I love all those characters - just don't understand the reason Wonder Woman gets the lame treatment.)

Eh, will need to wait and see. But Linda Carter :lovewill always be WW to me….just sayin.

I just want to quote this for emphasis. I think that there's real resistence to the idea of taking a female comic character and giving her the respect that the guys have gotten when it comes to making the transition to movies. One of the reasons I was so excited that they put Black Widow in Iron Man and that they've already committed to putting out a solo movie for her, is that if that succeeds, we'll see less resistence to doing a REAL Wonder Woman movie. At least that's my hope. :)
