That jacket is made by Bates, the company that made the original. They also made the terminator leathers in T2 and the suits in Torque, to name a few

And even though I really like the jackets from all 3 films, my favorite is from X1. Not because it was the first, but because it's so true to the animal itself. They got the color of the animal right, and the yellow stripes. Incase you guys didn't know, wolverines are known for being brown with yellow stripes on their sides.

Hey David,

Quick question for you: I know you're set on the colors you intend to use for the X1 jacket (its amazing you were able to get a pre-distressed screen used sample for the stripes), but if someone were interested in a different color leather for the stripes on any of your jackets (the orange in X1, the gold/red in X2, or the gold/blue in the X3) would you consider allowing that person to supply you with the leather that they wanted sewn on instead of your stock supply? I'm sure there would have to be conditions, of course. Just curious...

Anxious to see how the revised prototype comes out... :D

Just a quick heads up here...
I'm making both the first and second jacket as we speak. Seeing as they're similar in design it just made sense to do them both at the same time instead of going back later on to do the X2 version so they will both be ready shortly then all details will go up in the J/Y.
With all the information on these jackets....color, fit, overall look...we've made quite a few changes to our original design and I really think we'll have a couple of winners now. :)
I'm rather attentive to detail when I do these kinds of things so I want to be sure the next pics we show basically blow your minds.....:)
The hold up is only because we've moved ahead with the X2 also..but they'll both be ready at the same time and both ready to produce together, so that's kind of cool I think.

Chris,

What exactly would you want different? Both my X1 and X2 'should' be pretty spot on...if you're looking for something custom color wise I guess we'd have to discuss that separately and at that point I'd be able to know better if it was doable on my end.
Not saying no, but I need more info from you on what you mean exactly.

David

David,

Thanks for the update. I sent you a PM with a clarification of what I was getting at. Really looking forward to the updated pics.

here, if you take a look at the 1st page of this thread and look at the prototype of his jacket you can compare those colors to these

maybe that was the original idea for his jacket?

Hey that's pretty cool... I cant believe I never made that connection. :thumbsup

I'm almost ready guys.....probably the coolest group of jackets we've done in a while.

no pressure or anything, but

HURRY UP DAMN YOU. :p
[/b]

LOL...sure, I feel no pressure.
I have to say that out of the last 4 or 5 years, this now is the busiest we've ever been. It's already March and we're going crazy with all the different gigs we have lined up for this year. It's unbelievable how fast time flies and in the entire mix we've thrown these 2 jackets in there too.
Sure...I feel no pressure.... :cry :lol

We're working our tails off....and I'll admit I should have started them both in the first place at the same time but, we're doing that now and we're only looking at a few more days anyhow.
Trust me, I'm just as eager as anyone else to see these bad boys done. :)

David

Just out of curiosity... are you planning to offer these jackets in PRINTINE versions ?? or will be weathered and distressed like the movie one ???

(If I get it, I would love to be a little (or too much) weathered like the movie one... dont like the pristine ones... )

Just to know ;).

P.S. great work .

Any updates? I'd love to see the X2, as there are not many replicas (Bates or otherwise) out there.

I should be posting pics next week. The suede took a little longer for the X2 than expected.
Also I completely revamped my X1...redid it from scratch, again...
:)

did you happen to see the post that the guy from vanson did that had a link to their X1, should give you almost every angle you'd need if you already dont have it.

Yup, saw that. :) Of course I've been documenting everything I possibly can and basically filtering it all out, then simply making what I think will work for me as far as this replica goes. It's hard to take anything as fact at this point...screen caps for the most part are contradictory...info is not easy to come by...and, everyone has their own opinion as to what is right and wrong, accurate or not. I guess the hardest part for me was determining what I saw as the best direction to take with this. It's just one of those garments that has way too much info available that cant easily be dissected and understood. The weathering is a big factor in the true 'replica' look and that's causing a lot of discussions too. Bottom line, none of this was easy...I think for everyone involved in seeing this happen....and it just got to the point that it was time to decide, make changes or modifications....and get the thing done. Once and for all...
The last thing I want...or the rest of you guys too I'm sure, is to see this drag on for an eternity. I think we'll have a winner....but not everyone may see things and details as I see them on this so naturally some will dig it, some may not....but that's cool, and I accept that. :)
My jackets will be prototypes, so when I do show them I will be open to discussing any additional things that may or may not be needed...but I do think we're really close. With some luck, close enough..... :cry :D
