Wolverine X1 & X2 Street Jackets Done! UPDATED 8/7

Hey guys, keep in mind that they are using a blue filter and a couple of post-processing tricks in that image (you know, movies...), so the color of the jacket should be warmer and slightly lighter in real-life...
Just my 2c ;)

BTW
Great work so far David :)

For the original jacket color. Let us not forget the recent observation mady by h8ter in the other Wolvie jacket thread. The top stripe on the left arm is actually missing, which reveals the original unweathered leather underneath. So yes, the overall appearance of the jacket in the movie is more like Vanson's WALNUT color. But as you can see, it was originally much ligher. If you examine the top stripe in the "snow" picture, you'll get a good idea of the original color before they sanded it and oiled (?) it. Just food for though.

on that note, even though the jacket in X2 is totaly different, in the movie-verse it was supposed to be the same as it was in the first, so it too is missing the top stripe

now we can all look at the bates from X2 and say that it looks almost black, but like saber said about the color under the missing stripe you can see that it was real light as well

there is a pic of him standing in cerebro where you can see this with great detail (well i can cus i have the X2 poster so its quite large.

the color is almost the same as the stripes on the arm.

on a side note to DAVIDYR1, do you know of any weathering tips or tricks for leather? is there a certain kind of oil i can use to darken up my jacket?

Yes, the jacket length is VITAL...David, when you said two inches long it concerned me as this would make the coat TOO long....just below beltline is perfect but much more and YIKES.

The length is definitely a key element. Right now it's pretty much spot on...if anything it could come up a half inch or so. Here is a pic of my Vanson, I's size 42.

Can you show a front shot of the belt line fall? Looks perfect from the back so that should be a good eyeball range for Davidyr1....

You know what? After seeing that back pic up there I think I will hold off on making the jacket longer. Mine is a tad shorter than Knightsaber's (thanks for the post BTW) but I think it'll be fine.

Folks, regarding the base color of the jacket....

I'd like some opinions based on the pic I posted a few posts up.

-Do you see the brown to be correct?

-Do you see the brown to be too dark?

-Do you see the brown to be too light?

I'd really like to start tanning the base color of the jacket for the final jacket.

Thanks. :)

David

Hmm, well, it's hard to say, David. I think alot of people expect the wolvie jackets to look like the one in the movie, straight off the rack, then they say they want screen accuracy, which would mean a tan-ish color. So, I'd say a dark brown would be a nice change compared to others. But for accuracy, you might have to go a bit lighter, then customers could hit it with oils.

I say a tad bit darker or same color as the one above...quite frankly as you weather this and absue and "sand" the leather will get lighter...I don't favor dumping oils on leather to darken it...

Okay. :)
Now we're getting somewhere. Thank you guys......

Let's get some more feedback like this. It's what I was hoping to get..... :thumbsup

I really have to go with a coffee brown here. I'm not basing this on the snow scenes, for that is the worst scene to look at anything. I rented X1 just to look at this dam jacket, and it came out coffe brown all over, specially at the end, during sunlight.

Oh, what did we decide on the waist stipes measurements? There was still much ccontroversy over Vanson's notable wider triangles.

Thanks for chiming in buddy.

As for the stripes, I think what I've done with mine work pretty well with the proportions of the jacket. I'm pretty sure all the goldish details on mine are good to go...and once we come to a reasonable understanding regarding the base jacket color...the J/Y thread will be definative and I'll be moving ahead with it. :)

So let's say coffee (no cream) or Walnut and call it a day...:)
[/b]

If you want me to be trully anal about the color, I'd say black with brownish hues (the worn-out fadings providing the brownish hues), but I think we can all live with coffee brown.

I agree with Knightsaber, I think if anything the length could even be brought up a tad bit more.
Oh yeah, I think I might be interested in an X3 one depending on price, and if you end up making that version.

I'd personally go for darker colors...

These pics reflect the colors I would love to get :

I dont like the golden parts... and also the light brown is a little strange to my eyes (talking about the prototype)... as I said before, I'd go for darker ones...

yes, but as stated before the only way to get those colors is to weather the jacket, which i highly doubt he (DAVID) is going to do, unless you buy the jacket for much more than the $300-$400 range. weathering takes time, and time costs money.

he said the gold/orange is the color that was originaly on the screen jacket, so you can imagaine what was done to it to make it look like the above.

i used to believe that it was red at first, until i seen the bottom picture

the original wested stripe colors were like a bashe/yellow color
and a member here took his jacket and hit it with some oil and ended up with this

just somehting to keep in mind

Hey guys,

I just got my jacket from Vanson in Walnut with Gold Stripes. Put up a post in the other Wolverine jacket thread so, you'll probably want to go check it out.

I'll be taking more pix over the weekend and if there's any details you want to know about, just post in the thread above and I'll try to respond with answers.

The pics of the scene on the snow are too manipulated to define a good color... This is the same pic, but without the blue filer, and with a little more ambient light, but I can't dry the jacket. :D

The two swatch are what the original colors are SUPPOSED to be...
But I can be totally wrong... :)
