WOLVERINE TAGS - need help with specs

i recently made an ID disk using these dimensions, but it doesn't say how large the holes and slots are supposed to be. i guesstimated from the pics, but i'd like to make them accurate on the next one.

also, as i tend to go overboard on things, does anyone know the Canadian equivalent of the P-38 can opener, and if/where one can get them?

and here's a pic.

if you are wanting to make them I can't help, but if you just want some member Indy Magnoli has already made them.

Magnoli never made the X-1 dog tags, but he does offer the 'Origins' style which is completely different.
I have a set of the real issue Canadian tags. I'll measure them when I get home but a quick Google search for 'Canadian Dog Tags' should bring up dozens of places that offer them.

I paid like $10.00 for a custom engraved set.

thanks Mechanic; that'd be great. i looked through the google results and was on the verge of ordering a set for years, but when i found the dimensions i figured i'd just make em myself. used a piece from the scrap bucket, so the material was free. :thumbsup

i havent' even seen the Origins movie, don't plan to, and don't want those tags. Wollverine is Canadian, Weapon X is a Canadian program, and for goodness sake his tag in X1-3 was Canadian, so why in Origins would he have American style dog tags?

sorry. with photobucket being blocked at work I can't see pictures sometimes.

Shoot, I had the screen used one that Sabertooth brings back to Magneto in my hands last summer (Tyler kept it as a souvenir) but I did not think to get any good pics or measurements. I usually visit with them a couple of times a year, but I think my next trip will not be until summer. Either way I will try to remember to get some info next time I have the chance - for any future need.

I really like the Canadian tags - so if one orders them - what do Wolvie's tags actually "say" on both sides? Sorry to ask a lot of questions - maybe someone can PM me and be my wolverine mentor - or maybe point me to a all inclusive website or thread?

thx

the version seen in th x-men movies is the bottom half of the canadian id disk, which is broken off and returned to the government when the soldier dies(kinda makes one wonder how Wolverine ended up with that half -probably just an prop dept. error), and is blank on the back.
so is says

458 25 243
WOLVERINE

and nothing on the other side

the other tag(which remains with the body), seen briefly in flashback in X2, has the same info on the front, but is also stamped on the back:
DO NOT REMOVE
NE PAS ENLEVER

in order for the text to be right-side-up on the lower half, as seen, the text would need to be flipped, as issue tags have the writing going the same way(again pointing at a prop dept. error, as it should have been upside down worn as it is).

The other tag (in the movie) also said 458 25 243 WOLVERINE as seen in the flashback in X-2. Stryker breaks it in half leaving the one part on the chain.

I don't believe we ever get to see the back of the tags but as evidenced in this screen cap, both tags are exactly the same which is not accurate to real Canadian tags.

well, since the half Wolverine wears in the movies is blank on the back anyway, it doesn't really matter. on most sites the DO NOT REMOVE is optional(i'd get it if i were buying one, but i'm a stickler for authenticity), some charge extra, some don't. just be sure to specify that you want the text mirrored. most have this as a regular option since the movies came out and again, some charge extra for it, others don't.

(post edit)
just as well then that he only has wears one half, or custom-made would be the only way to get an accurate costume.

The best, most accurate ones you can get are sold by truenorthtrader on Ebay. They're made of aged pewter with the correct stamped lettering and they're also made in Canada.

thanks for the info, Shuktuki; that's exactly what i needed.

as for actual movie replicas: i prefer to make my own stuff whenever possible, especially such a simple thing as a dog tag.
