Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

I'd go (and I DO go) with 527's for Wolverine........While not exact for the first film, they've been used so regularly afterwards that it makes more sense to use those as a general guide.....Colour wise, I'd agree with my friend Wolfman.....Andi looks fine to me....Muse is ok, but you want a touch more fade (It'll wear in after a while anyway...But...), and the Indi Blue are just a touch lighter....I'd go with the darker.........

I am not sure what mine are, but they look closest to the Andi colouring.......

Can't turn it off in dark venues. Plus I want the pic taken by others to look good also. I plan on painting over them a few times to help unless anyone has a better idea besides removing them, that I wont do.

Have you thought of sewing over them? My first suggestion would be to remove them and use the material removed as a pattern to replace it. However, measure the pieces, do test fitting, then sew directly over the existing seams. If you're not comfortable sewing it yourself (and if it's not a sealing material I would be nervous too), having a quality shop do it shouldn't set you back too much. You could also do it by hand, carefully putting the needle through where the existing needle hole is. That would be tedious and time consuming, but you could probably get pre-cut ribbon that is already edged and everything so you only need to cut it to length and actually sew it on.

I found this dye on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Jacquard-Acid...UTF8&qid=1410269959&sr=8-1&keywords=nylon+dye that might do the trick better than paint.

Attention Logan-Heads...
@comonbub, @Solider, @wolfman, @fifthchamber, @darkside501st-

I need some assist. I've read here and decided, without knowing if the original pair were ever identified, that the follow-up Levis (the 527's) would be a suitable, while technically still screen accurate, substitute for my Logan X-1 snow scenes ensemble.

Question:

There's been SOME discussion here on the forum on the color. Now, I have a pair of Denznes I've worn forever which, oddly, look at least from the knees up identical to the worn out originals in every screen grab I've seen. They are not, however, boot cut.

Logan wears boot cut. "nuff said there.

Can anyone look at the link enclosed below and give me your best opinion collectively, like a poll, as to which finish denim you think would work? You will see an option to select one of like 5 denims for the 52's and then mouse over the enlarged area to have a closer look. I'm not asking for you to make the decision for me. But I just can't look at them any more tonight and I would really appreciate any advice any of you experts can offer.

You guys have been doing this a lot longer than I have, and while a quick study, I don't have the luxury of totally screwing this up.

Thank in advance and here's the link...

Tips from my personal jean battle.
The jeans for me was very tough to get right, in fact I don't think I ever got it screen accurate like I wanted. On issue is that a lot of the jeans out there are low wast, and sorta looser fitting then you want without going to skinny jeans. Boot cut for sure. You really have to try some on to get the right length and fit first before you go for color. I have a athletic build and my legs might be thicker due to martial arts, so getting jeans to not be too loose or tight was hard. Length seems hard to, not wanting too long or short, sometimes 32 works or 30, it all depends on the brand then the style in that brand. I've been burned ordering online so a tip is to order online from a store you could return the jeans to like Kohls or JCp. ext
IF you find the right jean in color but they don't fit your body right your Wolverine look could suffer the screen accurate look you want.

In the end, I've found jeans that I tough looked closest from color but they fit my all wrong... I ended up going with a style from Lee premium select classic fit, they fit my body perfectly, they have 1 % algodon spandex 99% cotton. Thy stretch a slight bit so when I'm posing for a photo they look good in any shot. I tried them on with my biker boots to see if they worked since they were not boot cut, and they worked for me. But, what works for me might no work for others. I hope any of this helps.

Good luck in the jeans hunt. If you find a pare that fit you but don't quite have the screen accurate look you want, you could always try and modify them if you think you can to get the look you want.

@Solider I was lookin at track jacket patterns as a base for the blue/yellow top and probly try to find poly/stretch fabric
Somethin like this http://www.rockywoods.com/Patterns/Jacket-and-Coat-Patterns/Skyline-Jacket-Pattern
Getting close, I with they made a shirt instead of a jacket. IF someone made a stretchy shirt or sports shirt with the print from the movie on it for not a ton of money, I would be interested. The print would not include the chest / body armor. the shirt would not necessarily need a front zippers like in the pic, as the armor would cover that.under.jpg

Wliiam33 posted in the Future Wolverine thread about Snakepit Studios. If you scroll down a bit on their FB page you can see their DoFP print: https://www.facebook.com/SnakepitStudios/photos_stream. The armor's on there but if you were wearing your own over it, it should theoretically cover it.

Hey forum.
@comonbub, @Solider, @wolfman, @darkside501st, @fifthchamber ...

I posted a quick thanks over in the pic update for Erin's Jean Grey Field-Jacket thread, but wanted to stop by over here also, with my Wolverine-centirc update, to thank you once again for the assist with the Logan Jeans. I've settled on what i think are the perfect pair, and couldn't have done it without each of you jumping in to lend a hand.

Rather than repeat everything going on currently here, there's info on the total-build front and a few tease pics of Erin and I getting mocked up in our beginning patterned attire on her X-2 Field Jacket thread for anyone interested.

I'm going to try and keep this one Wolvie-centirc.

To that, this weekend marks the nail-biting task of painting my vintage buckle, nearing full grow out of the shaggy X-1 chops and ...the imminent arrival of my custom built X-1 Leather, which is coming on schedule on Monday night. I'm going to do a full distressing and weathering procedural video for it if all goes well.

I also got my first look at my custom, human hair "Berserker" wig from Hero Hair and it looks great so far.

Wish me luck and really...thanks again everyone!

Here are my buckle paints (I also got a self etching primer- not pictured) and some of these weathering pigments to give it a little wear.

Going with the 517 Levis;)

Honestly....The buckle really isn't "nail-biting".. ;-)
Just use an initial white for base, then go slow and light until it matches what you want....Then weather it with a cloth or sandpaper....It's a long task, but not especially difficult....

Appreciate the tip and the reassurance hub.

Cheers;)

I don't know if I would go past the distressing of the leathers color. Fraying the ends of such a expensive masterpiece just seems wrong. However, screen accuracy is awesome...... I just got the most awesomest idea that solves everything. Get a 2nd jacket, so you can have one new, and one distressed. (JK on the awesome idea by the way.) Can't wait to see your final pics.

I know what you mean. And great minds think alike. As it happens, part of the deal I made with the maker to have this garment custom built at all was that, in addition to this Jacket for the distressing, I would also secure a pristine version that will remain undamaged. So it's a two Jacket deal. Sort of the Dress-Logan version. I won't be receiving the second coat for some time. This main coat was the priority and it took 3 months.

I already have my dremel for the frayed edges and high grit sandpaper, washes, exacto blades for the back rips and chunk-etching, soot jars, wire brushes and stitch pullers ready to go.

I will post pics and video. Thanks man. Yeah, this will be epic.

Yeah, I would be nervous that the whole thing would fall apart. Adding that kind of weathering to your jacket should make your costume pretty unique compared to the other Wolverine cosplayers out there. I doubt there are very many go that far. I am looking forward to seeing the video.

Back when the first couple movies were just coming out several of the first jacket reproductions went for the accurate shredded look.

Over the years with jackets being more common the accurate look has kinda faded away. Cool to see a new "thrashed" being made. ;)

Wolverony : Do NOT, use sandpaper to weather the buckle, i repeat, DO NOT. I don't care how low or high the grit is on it, it will strip away the details of the feathers and high spots of the buckle, trust me, I found out. You're best bet is to use your finger, cloth, and a bit of alcohol with and old toothbrush for the high spots. I just got back from Wizard World. Featured on Jason David Frank's fb multiple times and told Lou Ferrigno for a rematch...He wasn't a happy camper today. I'll post pics when I get all of them together.
