Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

@Wolverony This buckle Indy posted awhile back looks fantastic!

@Wolverony : Do NOT, use sandpaper to weather the buckle, i repeat, DO NOT. I don't care how low or high the grit is on it, it will strip away the details of the feathers and high spots of the buckle, trust me, I found out. You're best bet is to use your finger, cloth, and a bit of alcohol with and old toothbrush for the high spots. I just got back from Wizard World. Featured on Jason David Frank's fb multiple times and told Lou Ferrigno for a rematch...He wasn't a happy camper today. I'll post pics when I get all of them together.

These buckles are looking great, the quality has really stepped up from earlier replicas. A couple of points... I've been doing these so long, I'm not sure what my original reference is, but I always thought the headband was green. Also, there is a "V" or "U" design on the tips of the feathers that you can see in many of the original photos. Here is a not-so-great shot of my personal buckle where you can, at least, see this detail:

DC-2009_0524.jpg

DevilsTrap, I definitely like the dirtied feathers better, excellent natural looking patina!

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Back when the first couple movies were just coming out several of the first jacket reproductions went for the accurate shredded look.

Over the years with jackets being more common the accurate look has kinda faded away. Cool to see a new "thrashed" being made. ;)

I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome as well. I love scree accuracy and I've been trying over the years to accomplish that same thing. Once I get my hands on a Danson I will have a ball doing this exact thing. "New/Fresh" is not my cup of tea at all.

WOW....just wow.
You are one dedicated man. I seriously applaud you one all your endeavors. I am looking forward to seeing all of your guys' projects come to life. Actually...I can't wait, I'm an impatient fella.

Hey forum.
@comonbub, @Solider, @wolfman, @darkside501st, @fifthchamber ...

I posted a quick thanks over in the pic update for Erin's Jean Grey Field-Jacket thread, but wanted to stop by over here also, with my Wolverine-centirc update, to thank you once again for the assist with the Logan Jeans. I've settled on what i think are the perfect pair, and couldn't have done it without each of you jumping in to lend a hand.

Rather than repeat everything going on currently here, there's info on the total-build front and a few tease pics of Erin and I getting mocked up in our beginning patterned attire on her X-2 Field Jacket thread for anyone interested.

I'm going to try and keep this one Wolvie-centirc.

To that, this weekend marks the nail-biting task of painting my vintage buckle, nearing full grow out of the shaggy X-1 chops and ...the imminent arrival of my custom built X-1 Leather, which is coming on schedule on Monday night. I'm going to do a full distressing and weathering procedural video for it if all goes well.

I also got my first look at my custom, human hair "Berserker" wig from Hero Hair and it looks great so far.

Wish me luck and really...thanks again everyone!

Here are my buckle paints (I also got a self etching primer- not pictured) and some of these weathering pigments to give it a little wear.

Going with the 517 Levis;)

I've been looking for this backpack for over a decade!!
Please tell me you have a link to this with more photos. I hope this is the same one from X2. As the straps match but not sure yet as there was bad lighting and little screen time with Logan in civvies in X2.

Sorry. That's the only pic I've got. :/

And @comonbub-

Thanks fellas. Appreciate both tips very much. Yes, I did my diligence on this thing and went with exactly the resources you just listed. I knew of Indy from my days back on the IndyGear forums, and knew he had started doing buckles. Honestly I was going to order one of his prefabbed/painted replicas until i found my own Bergamot vintage.

So I'll heed your advice on it and let you know I pulled that image of his personal buckle and one other from his site similar and will be using them as my guide.

To everyone else who's commented here about my Jacket procedural, I wanted to say thanks for the support! I am very anxious until I get it on, firstly, and see that the custom measurements I took and submitted to the maker were spot on, and , lastly, I get into the distressing. I've pulled a lot of info on methodologies there and am basically going to just hit it with everything I've got.

Thanks all and I'll update later this evening with some out of the box pics or maybe a video.

Also, I woke up like this-

Go home life, you're drunk.

Screen Used costume (Mansion scenes shirt and Black T version).
Belt I just found to go under my Indian Head Buckle.
Close enough. Boom.

Not Wolverine related, but found this searching ebay for "screen-used": Pyro's shirt and track pants from the Bobby Drake home invasion scene.

But this one is: Hugh's custom tan western shirt for X3, not X2 as stated in the auction:

MOD EDIT: Please do not post Ebay links, thanks.

Closest to the unidentified Wolverine Backpack thusfar:

@Wolverony Nice belt, I wished someone would do a run of SA belts.

Thanks wolfman!

I know, right? That's totally gonna be my standby belt.

HOWEVERrrrrrrr....

As I have 3 weeks to get it done, I am now looking into doing the grometting on a scratch belt myself. If that is in fact the screen belt (on the SU outfit I posted- and I'll review the cage scenes tonight from X-1 to confirm), I might just do it ( a SA run). I have extensive leather working and distressing experience. The buckles are out there, the grommets and studs are standard and there doesn't seem to be any weird crazy embossing or cavities in the leather- no outward design I can make out to engrave.

I am seriously, and have been all day, considering it,

This is so amazing to me. I spent a really intense detailed 20 minutes writing about the difference between how a garment looks on screen and under varying lighting conditions vs how it appears in "real world" conditions over in the Jean Grey field jacket thread this weekend, and this Pyro shirt is a prime example. I love it.

Just FYI there's an interest thread up in the Project Runs section for a new run of Mara Jade's Father accurate X-Men/X2 dog tags.
Do not hesitate to speak up if you are interested.

The whole belt thing I started for the Days of Future Past belt thing is no longer happening it seems. I'm not waiting on Magnoli anymore, pulling teeth for updates that possibly do not exist. Soul, could ya take over and make one? The demand is already there.

SNIKT.

This is literally just out of the box. I had enough of my wits about me to put on a temporary flannel, my Helmut Lang and my Dark Matter Claws and , through shaking hands, squeeze off these two shots.

More later after the adrenaline winds down. 13 years to this moment. That's how long I've wanted this Jacket. Thrilled. Just overwhelmingly thrilled.

It's beautiful.

Catch you guys later tonight with some pics and maybe video if i have time.

Gotta go now and have a drink.

Very nice Wolverony . Also have seen shots of Darkside's new Wolverine bone claws and need I say how fantastic they looked again? Finally...Here's the shots you've been waiting for. I won honorable mention with the suit in the contest. Was my first time participating in a con or anything like this. There's also a video in the description of my unscripted performance being called out during the contest, it's epic...Check it out and let me know what you guys think! I want some input.

Hey everybody! Im brand new here. I did post a separate thread but I think I'd get more answers if I post here. Im trying desperately to put together a decent Origins costume. I bought the jacket from leather next.

http://www.leathernext.com/Movie_Replica_Jackets/X-Men+Origins+Jacket-0124

I had them make it a little thicker, to my measurements, and add the tan behind the zippers. I know its not totally screen accurate but I like the look of the black and you can obviously tell what its supposed to be.

On to the real questions though. I've read much of this thread but wow is it long. haha. Does anyone make the belt or have any links to somewhere that sells one in a close enough color and I could make it myself then?

Two, I can't seem to find a decent shirt either. Any help with that would be great, and I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative to the undershirt too, but might end up with your general hanes.

I believe I already own the right jeans, or at least close enough, and I found great dog tags on etsy.

Now on to claws. I know Dark Matter Props makes a great product, however I'm reallllly strapped for cash at the moment so if I can find some good ones (or links to materials to make em) Id appreciate it. Something tells me Ill need to be whipping out the CC though cuz I might not find a better replica.

Last but not least (I think) the belt buckle. I have seen a couple online but haven't found the right one. I don't want Chinese knock offs, although there is one I've seen on ebay and looks like a decent replica but I don't want to wait for it to come from China.

Oh and thank you JLeezy and andveryginger for your suggestions before!

Thanks guys and gals! :)
