Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Turn the Flash light off, when you take a photo... ;)

Flash light spoils photos.

Can't turn it off in dark venues. Plus I want the pic taken by others to look good also. I plan on painting over them a few times to help unless anyone has a better idea besides removing them, that I wont do.

I want a DOFP Future Wolverine suit. I've looked into many options and have decided a leather jacket on ebay of the armor will not come close. the top half is 2 pieces a shirt and an armored vest. Where can I get the shirt or who can make it to look like this under.jpg I would like the colors to be very close to the pic and not over stated like most cosplay adaptations. In fact I would like the arm color used for the waist instead of the yellow you see. 2nd, where would you find an armor substitute?!? or who would be able to make it? The paints I could get at an army surplus store if I looked, same as the boots and ext. I found a biker vest that could possibly work but I need some shoulder armor, but can't find any. wolvest.jpgthe back needs to have the design taken off.(perhaps replaced with an X) wolvest back.jpg with some shoulder armor and maybe a small pice of arm armor and a shirt to match I bet this would look so awesome your head would explode. Just add some mutten chops and some gry colored sideburns and no one that sees you would think you weren't screen accurate.
Also found this vest back.JPGfront.JPG
10177435_729032250470527_3320344205731833265_n.jpg this is only a dream as money is tight. But I would like to try if I could.

Update!

Wolverine/Logan X-1 Build:

Just received the following...

1) Dark Matter Forge retro "XO" claws (comparison shots next to my "The Wolverine" set (flesh tone grips) below. The retro XO versions have the knuckle rear over-hang, metal grips and are PERFECT as usual. Thanks Mike!

2) X-1 Logan "Lumberjack" fabric (4 yards) for the custom build. The pattern and color scheme marches nearly identically, and a full distressing and color sun-bleach/bleed will begin in 10 days, after the shirt is completed by our costume designer.

3) Vintage, "western-style" mother of pearl shirt snaps.

First fitting of the Muslin mock-up pattern build ( a full shirt has been created from Muslin, which is a specialized costume-design fabric used in stage, television and film, to construct the patterned build prior to the final garment fabrication) is Sunday and a fitting video will follow this week.

So stoked. Thanks for your support commentors and those who have begun to message me. Great to get to know all of you guys.

Travis.

Please note- the shot of my lumberjack fabric below includes Erin's Jean Grey X-2 Blue Field Jacket fabric we just picked up (and is posted in my other thread RE: that jacket build). Please exclude the inclusion here.

The fitting is under way.

Couple of teaser shots of the temporary pattern mock ups being put together on Erin and I. Full video coming soon.

(Note- this is not, on either garment, the actual fabrics/materials- but a fabric called muslin, which the final patterns are then culled from. Hence the missing arm, etc.)

Yeah I have this picture as reference for the paisley pattern and I also have these pics which shows a little more of the logger shirt. Click on the picture, then right-click the picture and select open in new tab, then click on the picture again to see the full resolution.

I will have to double check the brands when I get home. I will take some pictures and post the brands then.

I have a shirt very similar to that made by authentic western shirt Here is a pic for anyone interested
And here is it with my jacket ready for my wolverine photo shoot with a set of mikes claws next week

darkside501st When did you start offerin' metal clamp plates? Great work!

Wait? @darkside501st You are offering metal grips now???

I see the cat is out of the bag, lol. It is something I have been working for over a year on. I have had a hell of a time finding a machine shop that is willing to work with me on the design and do small runs since I can afford to buy thousands of them. Wolverony got a set of my prototype metal grips... the final prototype. I ordered a bunch more and they were just sent to me on Friday so I should have them in a couple days.

I have not yet taken any pictures or done a video on them as I have been so very busy. Although, as you might imagine, the metal grips are way better than the resin grips. Since I did the 2nd 90 degree bend at the end of the wire in the resin grips they have been working alright but the inherent issue with the resin grips is that resin is softer than the metal wire which it needs to hold. That fact added to the length and weight of the claws puts a lot of stress on the grips (even though the claws don't weigh a lot). So metal grips is the only real answer to the problem. I have been working with this particular machine shop for the past couple months. They do some other work in the prop community so the process is no stranger to them. We recently settled on a design and they began production. I had them incorporate three notches through one side of the grip. This is not a necessary feature on the metal grips since they clamp down enough to hold the square wires securely. However, I wanted to add it so that anyone that has already added the 2nd 90 degree bend in the end of their wires could easily swap them for the metal grips. So, with no further ado and with great pride, I humbly present Dark Matter Props' metal grips.

These are some low res images. I will be posting some hi-res images and video eventually.

I'd be interested in those.. My plastic ones don't hold the metal at all unless they're in my hands now...

Yes, the metal grips will hold them much better and will last a lot longer. Also, the design I went with, using the separate screws and nuts ensures that you will never strip out the threads on the grip rendering it useless. I use stainless steel hardware so that should not be an issue but if it ever does happen then you can easily swap out the screw/nut and keep using the grips.

Attention Logan-Heads...
@comonbub, @Solider, @wolfman, @fifthchamber, @darkside501st-

I need some assist. I've read here and decided, without knowing if the original pair were ever identified, that the follow-up Levis (the 527's) would be a suitable, while technically still screen accurate, substitute for my Logan X-1 snow scenes ensemble.

Question:

There's been SOME discussion here on the forum on the color. Now, I have a pair of Denznes I've worn forever which, oddly, look at least from the knees up identical to the worn out originals in every screen grab I've seen. They are not, however, boot cut.

Logan wears boot cut. "nuff said there.

Can anyone look at the link enclosed below and give me your best opinion collectively, like a poll, as to which finish denim you think would work? You will see an option to select one of like 5 denims for the 52's and then mouse over the enlarged area to have a closer look. I'm not asking for you to make the decision for me. But I just can't look at them any more tonight and I would really appreciate any advice any of you experts can offer.

You guys have been doing this a lot longer than I have, and while a quick study, I don't have the luxury of totally screwing this up.

Thank in advance and here's the link...

@Wolverony This might help.

I think Andi or Muse would work (I'm leaning toward Andi). It might be best to see which pair compliments your Helmut Lang the best, since the screen used jeans are unknown, but I'm with you Levi's 527 is your best bet since they were used in other movies.

Thanks wolfman.

I was thinking the same thing thus far. Do we know for certain, at least to your knowledge, that that image of the screen used Lang also is the authenticated, while as yet unidentified, screen used pair of jeans?

Thanks a lot for helping out;)

I'm not sure, I have never seen the actual listing. The thing is I don't have any great screen caps to compare them to.
