Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

I have a question about belt width. When looking at blanks, I see 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" widths. The belt is typically 1/16" narrower to fit buckles, etc. I found the Sitting Bull buckle and it says it accepts a 1-1/2" belt. Where is anyone finding a 1-5/8" belt and fitting it into a buckle that accepts 1-1/2" (1.4375") belts? Sorry, but my forte is over-analyzing stuff.

Can you provide a link to the buckle you found? My first thought is that it is the wrong buckle, maybe not in appearance but definitely in size. I've owned buckles from most of the old manufacturers of the Chief buckle and they have all been 1-3/4" or very close.

The closest I could find was at BuckleCity.com. I think this is the one RDMaul used.

Sitting Bull Native American Indian Head Belt Buckle

Is there a better place to look? I have already ordered it and it has shipped as of 15 min. ago:facepalm, so I need to know if I need to plan on returning it if I can find something elsewhere that is closer.

I see a couple on the Bay also.

Funny how if you use "dumbed down" search terms on e-bay, you find a lot more options. I think I may have a line on a poorly painted Bergamot at a really good price. I can strip the paint and do it right.

Your first link is right on the money, you really can't go wrong with a Bergamot Brass Works version. Check this one out if you want it faster:
BELT BUCKLE Western INDIAN CHIEF HEAD Bergamot BRASS Works | eBay

I believe Great American Chicago is one they used for the movie but I could be wrong, Superdrool would know. My favorite is the Sandy Val but it is pretty rare to find one of those.

There's no reason why you can't use the one you ordered, the belt will just be slightly smaller.

Thanks ILF,

I already canceled my order and had sent this same seller a request for a picture of the back to make sure not altered or damaged. I hope it turns out that I can get it. I think I am going to give making the belt a shot from the great references on this thread (X2/XO version).

I really appreciate the help and experience I have found both on this thread and the RPF in general. The attention to detail here makes me feel a little more normal.:)

Man Uses Wolverine Claws In Domestic Attack

Kristofer Ryan Huff, age 19, was charged with the assault after he allegedly used a set of replica/prop Wolverine claws to attack his roommate, reports MSN. This wasn’t just run-of-the-mill horseplay between roommates either. Huff was fully channeling the popular X-Men character, slashing his roommate on his head, his arms, his hands, and his thigh in their shared apartment in Vernal, Utah.

“[The alleged victim] sustained probably five to six wounds to his head, and then two to his arm, multiple defense wounds on his hands and then one real deep wound to his thigh,” said Vernal Police Sgt. Vance Norton.

The alleged victim reportedly attempted to protect his attacker from legal trouble, reports KSL. He initially told law enforcement officials that his wounds stemmed from a fight with a group of strangers in the street. Police then investigated the home and found blood in the residence. Possibly remembering that there isn’t a street gang in Vernal called “The Wolverines” that attack unsuspecting victims with Wolverine claws, they called his bluff, and he admitted that he was attacked by his roommate.

As if the story couldn’t get any more bizarre, Huff’s mother also got stabbed with the Wolverine claws after trying to wrestle him off of the 20-year-old victim. What was mom doing there? Police say she’s dating Huff’s roommate, even though Huff and his roomie have been “best friends since they were younger.”

There are jokes, but we’ll take the high road here.

Huff was released after posting $10,000 bail. He is set to make his first court appearance on September 10. We don’t know the fate of the Wolverine claws, but we’re guessing they’ll make an interesting conversation piece for school tours through the police evidence room.

Wow, didn't realize that anyone actually sharpened their claws or that there were any replicas out there that could deal out such an attack and not break. Also trying to figure out if the victim was lucky for dating an older woman or unlucky for being attacked by mad wolverine claws

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

I am only 5' 8" and 158lbs and I wear a Small heron. It was a custom order though so they have all my measurement. Im sure the Medium is way too big for you. It may cost you a lot to have it tailored (at least $75 but probably more in the $150 range depending on how crazy you go), in which case it may make more sense to order a new custom jacket from heron and sell yours. I'm still very happy with their quality and the way its broken in and aged over time so I think it would be a worthy investment either way.

its started to fit better as time has gone by i did consider that but i think my dad would be really :angry he spent along time getting me the jacket about 2 years ago lol im hopping now that i have my own place i can bulk up enough to fill it out nicely lol

ill put some pictures up tommo you guys can tell me hat you you think

Yeah, the buckle I was waiting for a picture of the back on has been sold on the last 2hr. I hope I didn't get snaked from the thread.:cry

Lesson learned. Buy first ask questions later, especially if something is severly low priced.

Ditto wanting to know the latest on Heron's X1, and also, Jorge - what's the latest one can order a custom jacket before you go on winter hiatus again?

Also anyone still interested we have extras on Russ's and My Run of Accurate Machined Aluminum Origins claws.

Finished up my XO belt today. Just need to paint the buckle. Next up, the watch band.:lol

If I did another, I would move my rivets in slightly more from the edge. I had placed the centers in the centerpoint of the fillet radius on my template.
