Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

How do personally feel about the yellow orange sleeve gussets?

I actually have mixed feelings about this jacket. It was a great deal
and I'm glad it worked out that it was a real Vanson. I love how soft
it is after being distressed and well broken in over the years.

The yellow stripes as a whole are a bit a turnoff for me. I much
prefer the subdued colors of Dan's current X1 jacket. We'll see when
I wear it if it attracts "too much" attention.

The yellow sleeve gussets have me a bit confused. Isn't Vanson the
one who made the real screen worn jackets (rhetorical question)?
Shouldn't they know the correct color for the gussets? Maybe this
color combination existed at some point leading up the the screen
worn jackets but never made it to film?

They have the right to say they made the first actual prototype based on the concept designs that Fox gave them to use for reference. So the bragging rights for Vanson only go as far as that. Any X1 jackets seen in the film were made in house, none of them were Vansons. The first prototype had red stripes, and for some reason they decided after the film, with creative leeway, to change the color of the gussets to match the stripes.

Rumor has it, that the prototype Vanson made it to Fox and was used to recreate the patterns for the ones that Hugh and the stunt team wore.

Lot's of people tend to post certain stories as fact without really fleshing out all the actual details... I'll do my best to make things as clear as possible with all the facts I have discovered over the years.
Just to straighten out and flesh out some info here... Vanson did not make the stunt/screen used Wolverine jacket Filmjackets.com had in hand, this was confirmed by the Vanson folks in person when examining the jacket. Vanson only made the prototype sample jackets sent to FOX for the movie production. All the original prototypes wore right handed zippers, a couple were red striped of a couple different shades and hides, the final one sent was gold striped and cuff gusseted, with Octagon body(this is still Vanson's stock WOLF design color combo). FOX kept one of the Vanson made samples in archives under X-MEN properties with tag still in the jacket because it did not end up used for shooting, and only as a sample to build the jackets used in production. Most jackets that end up on screen usually have the tag hacked out of them last minute but are left as is until used for shooting, as is typical practice in the film world. So AFAIK no Vansons made it on screen, but were the only company to have an accurate jacket compared to what did end up used on screen due to making the first design for FOX. All the photos(timestamped) and paperwork I have come across confirm Vanson's creation of the WOLF to be the first iteration of this design in early 1999. And for some reason FOX kept the last Vanson prototype in their archives.

DanY - Yep, that was pre me with Vanson... if you ever want those stripes colored to some other color just let me know and I'll be happy to take it on. I have pictures of a jacket where I took Gold gussets like yours there and changed them to Dark Brown to match the body.

IFA - glad you are loving the jacket!

Are you implying that I was wrong or inaccurate in my explaination? Or are you referring to someone else or another instance? Your vagueness always confuses me. :lol

If you were indeed referring to my comment, why not just add on?

Not implying anything Drool, in fact pretty much just copied and pasted what I stated on another forum recently that had the same topic come up... I'd rather copy and paste to keep things consistent.

I'm all good to go on the costume. I have the Zimmerli tank, the jeans, boots, watch, claws, and Vanson XO jacket. So excited!

I just sent them another email requesting at least some ETA on the quote if not the quote itself.

Usually I send them the image and info and a couple days later I get the artwork and price info. I know they cannot do much during Chinese holidays but that ended 12 days ago. Once we get past this rough patch, I feel the rest will go smoothly.
