Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Sounds promising. Can't wait to see someone in a Vanson X2!!

You going for the screen accurate dirty/distressed look?

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

I'm going to get it clean and mess it up myself. Screen accuracy isn't my main concern, I'm not into costuming or dressing up like Logan, I just love movies and comics and want a jacket I can wear around the world 100 times and still have ready to go 100 more.
I ride a bike and I travel a fair bit so I'd like to know it's literally got my back :)

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Hey, who knows where I can get a good quality replica of one of the Wolvie belts?

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Magnoli offer replica belts that look really nice

Any updates on the Heron jacket? Are these reasonable changes to be made?

The last I heard from Jorge he said my jacket would have these corrections and that he was starting to build it as of yesterday I believe. I just havent heard back about if he can curve the bottom of the back of the jacket. Dan, Am I even correct in that observation or is it just a trick of the photograph? It doesn't seem like the jacket is completely flat around the body from looking at your vanson or the original Bates, but I haven't seen either in person to say for sure.

Booze, if you are interested in a heron jacket I would just email Jorge. It seems like he's open to all/any changes you might want.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

BAT - you are definitely correct in the observation, there is a ducktale to the back of the SA Bates jacket and I made sure to replicate that in the Logan's Closet jacket.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

It on the back of my Heron jacket, as I made sure of that. Not sure if Heron continued to add that detail on the bottom or not.

The back scallops ever so slightly and goes up to the side stripe and goes back down in the front to the zipper. Another highly overlooked detail because it's so subtle.

As for belts I made them by hand, both the X1 and X2/XO versions.

PM me if you're interested, robertsonik. ;)

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

BAT - Thanks for the info!

Drool - Love your jacket my friend! It looks so nice :thumbsup

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

I noticed a little problem at the bottom of the dan's jacket and my new version X-2 both are different from the original bates, the distance is diferent from the brown suede at the bottom of the jacket, the drool's jacket have not this problem.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

jeggs - not really a problem on the latest jacket I showed, the spacing from bottom hem is a little short because of the custom torso length asked for by the owner... the same jacket in standard length for a given Regular size has the correct amount of spacing on my version, which is only 1/2inch more.
But yes, you should address that on your Heron version jeggs, about 1inch space between bottom hem and bottom of brown suede at the front...which is about what you did on Drool's jacket if I recall.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Dan, how do the sleeves fit when the zipper is fully open? Do you know what the circumference is around? I don't imagine I'll have my Heron sleeves zipped up very often since I want to show off the cool arm suede details, so if its tight when zipped up thats ok. But Im most concerned about the sleeves being too baggy when unzipped as the were on the last jacket I got.

I gave Jorge measurements of my well fitting motorcycle jacket of the sleeve circumference when unzipped, hopefully that'll do the trick but I was just curious about your Vanson.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Those pesky sleeve measurements are hard to properly size, both open AND closed. Many copies before have had them too baggy, and they didn't know why or realized the gusset suede was too much. It's a combination of not only suede but the cut of the sleeve that has to taper to allow less gusset material needed to bridge the gap for the closure when zipped. Does that make sense? Hard to explain, but it was the most feared and complicated part of the Heron project for sure.

Despite the classic Sitting Bull buckle we all know and love, what other kinds of buckles do you think Logan would wear? Tony is going to make me a belt and I want to have something that'll look awesome on there but I don't want to feel like I'm cosplaying all the time.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Well, any of his buckle styles are brass in color and western inspired, so it sounds like you want to stay in that basic feel of buckles? You can go with either a similar X3 buckle or the XO logger buckle that has a removable ring that screws on the back and from what we've gathered is a Tiger's Eye stone in the center. I've seen tons of close enoughs and look alikes that are along the lines of his 'taste and feel' for possible wearing. Don't go for the oval dinner plates, the medium sized plain buckles are sized to no look like a rodeo poser, or a cowgirl.

Here's the XO logger buckle info that has been researched thus far (found on fj.com):

Dan's eBay version with red stone which is accurate even with crown, not easy to track down though.

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Just curious about the Indian belt buckle. Mine is solid silver, but I'd like to paint it to look more screen correct. Does anyone know what kind of paint to use?

Re: Ebay Wolverine jackets any good?

Use acrylic and spray clear gloss over it after you're done painting. It'll weather like the movie after a while.
