Re: WIP: HPotter
OA Monster Book of Monsters!! Grrr!
I popped in the film last night to see the books in action for reminders, and the spines on the . . . uh . . . spine are fur, not points or horns. Thank you lordy! Some corrections were made, mostly to the 'Monster' text (still have to fix the 'o') and I opened up the mouth area to make the teeth a bit more of the focal point.
I went ahead and sculpted a nice looking mohawk down the back. I kinda like it, and can absolutly live with it, but I'd like a few more opinions.
I still think that clumps of fur would look cool too. I'll be sculpting a test in my spare time this week. What you see here isn't completely finalized, as I didn't want to commit fully to it. I think this is safely far enough away from the 'whip cream' look that had me worried. I sculpted the spine with different directions so you could stroke the side without getting poked.
The rest of the book is shaping up nicely, and I'm especially pleased that I got the pages to look like pages. I've also gotten the tongue completed and fit into its hole, and re-sculpted the pages around the tongue to look compressed.
I'm next going to focus on the bottom half, getting the right side finished (you can see tentacles now go all the way across the front) and getting the fur done on the spine. Once that's done, I'll flip him over and do the underside, then start casting that bottom in silicone. Once that's done, I can flip him back over, finish anything left over on the sides, get a few coats of silicone on that, then permanently attach the top to the sides and get the rest of the book cast.
The largest challenge will be sculpting the two large tentacles and the top jaw/teeth to mate smoothly and as perfectly as possible to the main book.
I'll most likey do that final step in Apoxie Sculpt, so that the final results can be permanent.
Enjoy the pics, and please let me know how the spine should be handled!!
