WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/24 scale

Re: WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/16 scale

So depressed that i missed this in person at WF. I love the AT-AT and I love your version...it's awesome. You should make a mold and sell casts!!!!

That would be fantastic. The cost would be out of my range but still a great idea.

Re: WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/16 scale

Well, almost a year later and i am getting on with some weathering on this....time goes so fast with a baby...hell a toddler now....

Anyway since winter is kicking my butt thought i would have some fun doing some light updating on this, one of the things that was bothering me that in this large scale the gray was looking like a big gray blob in the lighting i have it in, so i spent some time last night after everyone was asleep doing some drybrushing to bring out the edges on this, over all i am getting happier with it...still needs some tweaking. Usually i have a tendency to over weather stuff, but something this big needs just the right amount or else....big gray blob.

Also got a pic with a 1/24 scale luke, much happier thinking of this as 1/24 now...

Mike, that is awesome.

starwarsdoc, neither liberals nor conservatives would have me, and I've no idea whether I'd hate whatever it is that you're proud to be, but I do hate your sig line. Get rid of that thing before a mod sees it, for god's sake.

Sorry to derail. Mike, that is AMAZINGLY awesome. :lol

Great work Mike, great to see this big walker done, really impressive.

Wow looks great Mike. Really does look 1/24ish.

Nwerk, I liked his sig. There is a utility/tool on this site for the intolerant. It will block out anything he posts so you don't have to look at it. Use it instead of telling others what to do/think/say.

Agreed, and you have said pretty much what i was thinking earlier today.

Mike, you are an amazing attribute to this hobby. Your work is amazing.

Let's not detract from Mike's amazing work with discussions about my prior sig. I was politely asked to remove it by a moderator (oddly enough within five minutes of the above post by nwerke) and so I have. But as a conservative I believe people deserve what they rightfully earn, and Mike has earned my awe and appreciation for his contribution to our hobby. He has also earned the right not to have this thread dragged through the trenches of political differences and concerns about freedom of speech.

Awesome AT-AT.
'nuff said.

AMAZING!!!

How are the chances that this becomes available?

Re: WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/16 scale

I so want one of these puppy's. Mike don't forget me if you cast these up. Been thinking about this since your first post.

Re: WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/16 scale

I love this thing. Is it me or do the chin cannons look a little long in the tooth?

Re: WIP 2x SS AT AT 42 inches long 1/16 scale

They are a bit long, i will get around to fixing them at some point....when i made a mold of the cannon I left them long to allow for a vent..then forgot to trim them back during assembly. I was rushing to get this done for WF last year and it was an oversight. Over all the cannon and the mounts need a slight amount of revision.

I do have molds for all the parts....I will be taking a look at this in the spring. I will say that if there is an offering, it will be very, very limited and will not be a "shake and bake" kit, a small amount of scratchbuilding would be required, however it would come with all the hardware/metal/parts needed. The biggest example being that the harrier parts that go under the belly are cast like the real kit part, so they would need to be assembled and trimmed individually for the front and the back. Not a very difficult task, but not something i would do with a typical "kit"

I would say that it is not an undertaking for the faint of heart, there is a fair amount of work not usually associated with a straight forward kit...mostly around the hardware and armature for the head, which is on a ball and socket armature....
