Well now that spring has sprung I thought i would show off a WIP, I have been working on this slowly since last summer in between other stuff. Lots more than this is done, in fact it's almost done, more pics later but for now a sneak peak for anyone interested...This is going to be approx 42 inches long and I think slightly over 3 feet high depending on how the legs are positioned. Again big thanks will go out to Mike R. for his help with the computer "grown" parts on this including the neck you see in these pics, more of those parts will show up later.......this is just cobbled together at the moment and still has some rough spots i am smoothing out today...
that is a 36 inch ruler in the pic
thanks

This shows the test for the elbow that connects to the hip to the floor, this was taken over a month ago, this is all much more refined now...also a peak at back end part which has been straightened out a bit since this pic, some of the upper leg parts, early footpad, the "chin", harrier parts grown by Mike R. another look at the forward Sat V part.

Thanks guys, I realized after posting the pics that it is a little hard to tell just how big this thing is, here is a pic of just the center part of the foot on top of the SS AT AT...

I seriously had to check my calender to make sure it wasn't April 1st. That is amazing.

so many questions....WOW all scratch built , i guess the SS parts from kits are a bit small to some degree..

Mike, can I come & live with you for a few months, just seeing these pics is not enough. This is just going to be mind blowing.

Wow!!. Incredible is all I can say. The size is just staggering!. Is this the same size as the big ILM AT-AT?.
This is definately the year for giant sized builds, bring it on I say lol.

Thanks, I have had lots of inspiration to build big watching your amazing Star Destroyer build!

If you believe the dimensions in the books this a handful of centimeters shorter in every direction, but only a few. I don't know why they would have made the 4 footer slightly bigger than 2x the mid sized models, but this is pretty close to the dimensions in the book for the 4 footer. I did not put this in SSmodeling forum because it is slightly smaller and it shares some characteristics with both the 4 footer, the mid sized models, and some stuff i just plain felt ok embellishing on since it's a scaled model and not a representation of any one studio model.

thanks everyone...

Absolutely Stunning! :eek I'm into 1/16 armor and figures big time and have thought of building one of these for a while. Glad to so someone else tackling it.

Looks awesome. I'll be watching this with great interest in hopes that when finished, they will be reproduced. ;)

Quick look at the chin guns, again still a little smoothing to do and I need to build that outer guard detail that goes over the back, as well as the detail in the center of the "wheel"

For some reason i used the think that the whole gun recoiled under the chin, then after watching an old ESB making of special I realized that the gun was split in the middle horizontally and only the bottom half recoiled while the upper guard stayed attached to the floor of the head. Engineering this was a bit tricky and i am pretty happy with the way it came out, the back slides smoothly over a 3/8 inch round rod while the top will stay firmly attached to the floor. That "wheel" detail is a cap that will be cast separately so that the biggest part of the gun can remain as light as possible...

Correct me if I am wrong but, from the photos, it looks as though only the rear of the gun will be able to recoil as the distance from the tip of the muzzle to the upper guard appears to remain the same in both photos.

It could be just the angle the photos were taken at. Am happy to be corrected.
