Who am I best suited for? (Syndrome Costume)

just be sure with yourself that spandex would okay. That stuff makes every guy feel self concious.

I don't know, you kind have a young dan akroyd look...ever think ghostbusters ?

Oh yes. Now that Got Maul mentioned it. The #1 rule about wearing spandex... Wear a dance belt. It keeps you from looking like you're smuggling hot dogs.

Will do. Won't forget. :)

I actually never thought of ghostbusters... but it's something I'll have to keep my mind open for.

Trouble is, I don't know how to sew. But I think I've gotten a good idea on how to make the gauntlets... I forgot who said it, but someone said Scrub brush it made me think. I dunno if I could scult them... it's possible though. Back to my lab to think some more.

Someone once mentioned to me about these little beads that you could put in hot water and mold them with your hands... you guys think that might be a good idea? Does someone know what these might be called?

Those are, simply enough, called friendly plastic. Fun stuff and very handy, tho maybe not for something the size of a gauntlet. Sintra perhaps? I've made mando gaunts out of sintra before and it worked out quite nicely. I'm sure you can get ther basic shape with that. You might have to branch out and experiment for the for intricate parts.

Actually the more detailed parts I'm not too worried about. I've been thinking I might lay a base of plastic tubing (square shaped) to created to the end holes from the gauntlets and then coering the whole thing with Sintra. As for his Spoon bomb and the little glider thing (and the controls) I can always gouge into the gauntlet and add the later.

I'm thinking 3mm sintra colored in white. I know I can make these look amazing... I'll do my damn best anyway.

Damn fine idea on "Syndrome" you will definitly look the part.
Now, Since your dilemma is solved, How's about I "borrow" your thread? :)
I've been to DragonCon 5 years running now, and never gone in costume. Thinking about it for necx year. Seems I have the same problem as presented here.
Anyone care to offer up a suggestion or two? 5'11" and 210 LBS.

Mega, I think Syndrome will be very cool. If you can't sew, you may need to seek "professional" help with that costume - or learn to sew. The other option would be to paint or dye the black onto a white suit, leaving the S clean.
Unfortunately, the computer can do things not possible in the real world.
Still, you can have a custom wetsuit made that looks like a Star Trek: TNG uniform, Superman costume, whatever (and many have) so working with a lighter fabric shouldn't be too bad. You could make the suit, then replace the S (cut out the black and replace the piece with white so it exactly fills the space and doesn't cause the suit to be thicker. The coloring/dying may looker more accurate though.

The gadgets will be lots of fun to do.

I think you should try to sculpt the gauntlets. Foam, covered in sintra would look right and be light enough to wear.
Fortunately, they even show hinges on them on the inside of the arm. (Damn, Pixar rocks.)
There may be a kids toys or something you can start with as a base to help (I seem to recall seeing 'Hulk Hands" "Thing Hands" "Kong Hands" "Superman Hands" at Toys R Us - may be a good place to look for the base gaunlet to sculpt on)

Perf, you look to me like a good Green Arrow candidate. The world can always use more stormtroopers too.
:D
Boba Fett? Iron Man? A Klingon? Leo McKern from "The Prisoner" (as Number 2)?
:confused

Good luck Mega.
