Who am I best suited for? (Syndrome Costume)

Now that Dragoncon is over, I'm thinking of a new costume. The problem is, I don't know who or what costume to make. I've been trying to fit my body type so everything looks alright. Here is a picture of me (bigger guy in the picture)

I've been thinking of Syndrome from the incredibles. Orginal, Different, and I don't think anyone has done him before. (Plus I've got the messed up teeth and the hair for him, not to mention the build... possibly?)

what do you think sirs?

Hell yeah...DEFFINATELY SYNDROME.... You would be perfect. I think it's pretty cool when I see real people dressed up to look like the CGI characters. Go for it..

Oh man, thanks everyone. I've been totally freaking out that the suit would be skin tight and make me look stupid as hell. Ive got some great ideas for this costume as well. I'll keep everyone updated.

I've been wanting to see someone do this costume for a long time - in fact, I allllmost managed to talk a friend of mine into it, but he backed out. I think you'd be a great Syndrome - go for it.

I've been wondering when someone would do this costume.. I say go for it. This was my fave from the movie. I even thought about it at one time before I got all V crazy. Let me know if you have any questions.. I'll be glad to lend my expertise just to see this happen.

I would make the suit with some "muscle" inserts to give your upper body a litle more bulk...like in the shoulder area, but not a lot. I think the gauntlets will be cool to see as well as the wig.

Actually I was thinking for using my own hair (It's red, but I could put some spray in it to make it brighter.) All I would need to do it let it grow a bit.

As far as muscle inserts, that's not a bad idea. I might have to fill some areas that don't look "full".

Also I was wondering, what would you guys suggest I make the gauntlets out of? I plan on putting on the little details into it (The spoon like LED bomb, and the little flying thing as well as the simple keypad). I've been thinking I need to sculpt it, but from what? I don't have that new fangled resin and mold making kits all you teenagers have.

Also I was thinking a lycra suit, but how would I get the "S" on it? I would put BS, but then I'd be walking around with a big BS on me and you know how that would look... and idea's would be great. Thanks again for all your help.

As far as the 'S' on the suit goes, I think it can be sewn on as seperate piece. Pretty much take the pattern and draw the 'S' on and cut it out. Add seam allowance to the 'S' and to where it came away from the main suit. Cut fabrics and sew the new front with the 'S' before putting anything else together. Does that e sense?

Gaunts??? Show some good pics and more people will give suggestions. We're all happy to help, but I doubt anyone's going to dig for reference pics to answer a question I'm afraid.

Gauntlet ref pictures coming up.

They seem simple enough. They are flat at the top of the arm with a slight curve. The rest of the gaunts is a circle. I've also been playing around with the idea of some how putting a green laser into the gloves or gaunts to make his Zero point energy beam.

Also as far as the S goes on the suit, it doesn't LOOK sewn onto the suit. But I'm not sure how I would get it on there other wise... you know? Suit ref...

That's definitely you bro

The "S" looks like it is incorporated into the costume (mesh white and black fabric together to create the S shape).

Also the top of those gauntlets looks like the scrub brush I have to wash my dog. There are probably parts out there that you could use or cast from to make those.

Can't wait to see it at D*con '07

Now where do I post my pic to get recommendations for MY 07 costume? I am 6'3" and 300 lbs and was walking around in the Dengar costume if anyone remembers me.

Not so much sewn ON to the suit as sewn IN.. Think of it along the lines of taking a piece of black construction paper and cutting a shape, say a triangle out of it. Take that triangle and trace it onto some white paper. Cut the triangle out of the white, and stick in in the spot on the black paper where the triangle was removed in the first place. Now you have a black sheet of paper with a white triangle in it, as opposed to on top of it. Does this help?

You were BORN to do this character. Seriously......did one of Pixar's henchmen model the guy after you? :)
This will be an amazing costume- I'm eager to see plenty o' pics.
