i did one too, but went one step farther, i installed a cyan luxeon led in the barrel moved the speaker back, drilled out the barrel end to let led shine out, and put in a mom switch. i pul trigger and press monm switch at same time and have a cyan beam and sound at the same time. its bright as heck too.
doing a stormtrooper blaster retrofit and installed a red luxeon in it with specially built trigger board so it fires the led when main trigger is pulled and works together in synce with the sound.
Nothing fancy, just a repaint/light weathering on a Clonetrooper blaster.
I promised my GF's 9 year-old son I'd make it "look better" after halloween.

Figured I'd pull the "Space 1999" Eagle out of moth balls and get working on it again. Here are a few progress pics of my scratch built 24" version. I'm using a set of blueprints I've had for years, and a complete photo breakdown of one of the 44" studio models as reference.
First up is a pic of the forward cage section being built up on 1/16" music wire for support.
Next are the engine and fuel assy. - The engine bell was modified from the large space shuttle model kit.
Next you can see the jig I made for the main cage pieces. I have the whole model done in Sketchup and printed out a 2d version of this section for a template. Molds and copies were taken from the one master and then holes drilled in the 8 corners for assembly over the music wire braces.
Next is the main backbone frame. Its made from many styrene tubes over 4 3/16" steel rods for support. You can also see early fore and aft cage mockups for spacing as well as the plaster master for the nose cone sculpt and a rough out of one of the landing pods.
Last is the cargo module, essentially a stylized box.

I've been working on too much stuff lately. I've been doing a run of Journal of Impossible Things for some members here:
Old picture, all the pages are printed now. I've also been getting my Han Solo gear together. Here's the 95% complete gunbelt:
And the boots, jacket, and bloodstripes.
Pants and shirt are on the way, then all 3 costumebase pieces are going to be HEAVILY modified.
And finally, my long term project I hope to complete this summer:
The triforce will be coming out and be replaced with gold plated triforce pieces, the backing will be wood with a tooled arm strap and leather wrapped steel handle, and all the metal pieces will be made of steel as well. I estimate it'll weigh about 20-25 pounds, maybe more.
Additionally, while not a replica, I am making a giant 11" wide by 17" tall by 4" thick leather bound prop book for a film class this week.

Finishing up an FX Stormie bucket, in the background I have a scratch E-11 in the works, a Boba mystery helmet, and Boba rocket. These are all "round to it" projects. My other bench has a few other projects- some Fett knees, jetpack, and some mannequin parts I am re-working.
