What's on your workbench? (no Star Wars, Marvel or DC stuff)

we lately quit our jobs in Brussels and moved back to my girlfriend's family farm in the south of France. We are renovating two small rooms to make our workshops. We have been working on that for 3 months. It's moving forward but doing everything alone both of us and all by hand with small financial means is not easy. It's super rewarding though and I love it.

lately I finally started on the carpentry and built a small window and a door frame for the workshop. it was great finally going back to wood (I will be building guitars and props when this is over)

A “Star Trek” Log Book.

This has been sitting on my workbench for a while so I finally dived in on it last night.

This is the most accurate kit of this prop that I have seen produced. The main body is wood, like the originals, and is very solid.

I spent the evening painting the exposed wooden frame where the magic slate will be installed and then spent a few hours adhering the outer surface with its “skin”. This went on easy and I’m very pleased with the results.

The momentary switch is on its way to me so that hole is not yet cut into the outer skin. The Magic Slate seen here is only temporarily installed. Also, the rear screws and bayonet light mounts are pending arrival and installation. This will have a very simple battery powered blinking light set up for the three indicator lights.

There is also a resin stylus that is awaiting prep on my bench.

Overall, this is a very fun project.

Most of the work done on my enterprise phase pistol, just have to do detail painting and weathering:

Found this old Daisy BB-gun in by back of my closet that I've long forgotten about. It's got a silhouette of that one that was used for the Sand Skiff Blaster, the DL-18, and I'm considering building off of that, but I'm also open to other suggestions of what to do with it.

Mostly at the moment swords Gondorian soldier sword, Faramir's sword, Madmartigan's sword, Captain Navarre's family sword and a Uruk Hai berserker's sword. Only got photos of three projects at the moment sorry I stuffed up attaching the third one (I hate computers).

Are these cast resin handles? and blade used from other swords? or all made from scratch?

The Gondorian sword is resin cast pommel and cross guard with a re-purposed blade. Faramir’s is more complicated, the cross guard is a modified cross from Strider’s sword which will also provide the blade, the pommel I fabricated from balsa and foam both will be recast in metal when they are finished. Madmartigan's is a reshaped cross from my Excalibur project and a door knob pommel again both will be cast in metal when finished, the blade is from a cheap McLeod family sword. Captain Navarre's family sword is going to be complete scratch built cross and pommel with a modified Braveheart blade. Most of the blades were picked to match the type and form of the screen used sword Navarre’s however will use a bit of artistic license as the screen weapon is a bit of a spatular and I prefer the symmetry of a more tapered blade. The Uruk Hai berserker sword will be total scratch built.

Attempting to make some Mike Mignola / Hellboy style charms / amulets / whatnot in Aves.

New for this season i'm making some parts I used to make and have been coerced into reproducing them.

They are constructed from polyurethane and have an internal steel structure. The knight emblem is the horn button and nut access is by means of a slot in the rear of the hub, this means no blanking plate in the front as some other makers use.

A friend of mine pleaded with me to make him kne as THIS was what he had in hjs current setup and wanted something a little more accurate.

Oooo, nice! All those design ideas are yours?

Thank you! Not all, but many. If you look closely in there, you'll see the Lemurian amulet (which you replicated ;) ), King Thoth of Hyperborea's staff headpiece, the Chutt medallion from Iron Prometheus, the design found on the Cavendish parchment, plus a couple actual historical pieces I saw poking around the internet.

I've been doodling some variations on my Yellow Sign, and the Anum's fork design, and I have an informal list of stuff I'd like to attempt, like the Agrippa charm.

That's fun stuff (y) For the longest time I've thought it would be fun to replicate all of the pieces in this image:

Made some good progress, and have learned so much, since I was last on here. Some recently finished stuff.

NCR Ranger chestplate, forearm and hand guards, helmet, mask and Helcate 2 anti-materiel rifle:

The mask has internal strip lighting and a cooling fan. I'd say in a few weeks I'll have the complete costume made. It's been a great experience and I can see myself definitely continuing to create stuff like this.
