Here's the answer.
Why did I do this? Well transporting such a huge item about the country to cons was gonna be a nightmare, so I decided I would make it more compact.
The barrel was relatively easy to hide a cut, plus there is a plastic tube cast inside making it easy to insert a smaller diameter tube for reassembly purposes.
The lower was more tricky as there is no seam running all the way across the body. I therefore choose the area forward of the trigger guard as it required only a short cut across an unfeatured 'flat' area.
The area around this cut was to be filled with resin, the lower with an aluminium rod embedded in it. The upper had a block of aluminium glued in place first to take the securing screws.
I then clamped the upper body upside down and filled the area where the rod would be with resin. A small plastic tube was placed on the ally rod and the lower body was positioned back on the upper body so that the liquid resin would solidify around the plastic tube. This gave a good solid join between the two parts, two screws were then used in place of the fake fixings to bolt through the sides of the lower body in to the aluminium block on the upper.
I suspect doing this may have voided my warranty :lol
