WETA: District 9 Guns

Edition size of 200? No way I'm going to have saved up enough by the time these sell out. :lol

"It's made mainly from glass fibre, with some details made from other materials."

Other materials...metal maybe? What a cheesy description there...

Is this a pay-up-front to preorder?

My guess is they'll sell out of the arc gun pretty fast, and get left with loads of gas guns. Weird choice. Would have liked a Christopher gun.

Why even post?

true!!

I would love one, but current monies just cant stretch.Damn you Weta!!
Mind you that is amazingly cheap, seeing the size of the thing!
I cant see how that price can really make a big profit for Weta, if they are made in house, cast up, painted, hand finished etc, that's a lot of work for people.
Still, I will say the gas projector is an odd one to choose too, the best gun in the film was the first one he picks up in the shanty town- the white , rounded one with the bunsen burner type thing inside, sort of shot pressure?

Yeah, I'm pondering on the cost too. I think they're a great price, but times are hard...:unsure

Goooood morning ... a good morning indeed, especially since I watched D-9 last night and now I get up and see the arc generator for pre-order :) Not "cheap" per se but definitely at a very fair and affordable price, especially considering its size and that it won't come from just any licensee but from the creators of the original props (at an edition size of just 200 I hope there is a chance that they'll produce them in NZ). And here we were, discussing if Weta's announcement of a D-9 line would also bring us 1:1 weapons. Well, I just pre-ordered mine :cool

Since they describe it as an EXACT replica, I wonder if that applies only to the shape and size or also to the materials used. Looking at the documentaries on the Blu-Ray, most of the original guns seemed to be pretty lightweight, so "mainly from glass fibre" and the weight of just 4,9Kg could also mean that the replicas are build the same way as the originals.

And by the way, releasing the arc generator and gas projector at the same time is just brilliant, since I have zero interest in the gas projector and it would have been tough for me if they had announced the arc generator and the assault rifle (my second favorite D-9 gun) at the same time :lol

Well, with the low production number of 200 I am sure both guns will sell out and we will see some of the other ones coming in the future. I plan on buying any full size gun from this flick they put out.

Now give me the next four hours as i have to go post on every post that doesn't interest me. I feel it is important to let others know my lack of interest.
