For those who have had trouble with the "Stay logged in" feature, are you connecting via http or https? When I connected to this particular thread via http, it showed nobody logged in, and my login isn't saved at all. Changing the URL to https, it showed I was logged in and I am able to add a reply.

I'm on Firefox 63.0.3

That is odd. You should be getting automatically redirected to https. Let me see why that isnt' happening.

FYI....

When I forced myself to go to the non SSL url (ie: http).... I also got a bunch of the ADBLOCKER stuff mentioned by others here.. when going back to SSL (https).. there was no such nags.

Those no longer show directly in posts. They are in your profile.

Great job Art et al! :) Had to turn the brightness down on my laptop but a small price to pay.

I'm only on page four of the thread, so if this has already been addressed I apologize for the repetition but it's getting late...

I always liked to see how long someone has been a member and how many posts they have so I can have a better feel for their familiarity with the forum and how to respond to their posts. Having to go the extra step of looking at their profile to determine if they just joined today or 10 years ago seems an unnecessary step. It just takes away a useful at-a-glance interaction tool in my opinion.

For years we have used message count and registration time to evaluate fellow members (and at a certain level, we still do). However, those two markers have never given the full story.

With the new system, we now have a unit called "Trophy points." For certain actions, a member is awarded a number of trophies which have a certain number of points associated with them. Those actions are listed here:

Trophies | RPF Costume and Prop Maker Community

Trophy points in turn determine your User title such a ", New member, Well-known member, etc). You can always click on a member's avatar to see their signup date and post count, but we would like to see everyone get into the habit of thinking more in terms of Trophy Points and User title to determine if a member is a major contributor.

So, then, my trophy points will be somewhat higher when you fix my likes. (not a big hurry, I'm sure there's more important stuff.)
And, if someone has 5 trophy points, you either know they're new, or one of the quiet ones that don't post much.

Correct.

I'm finding it literally painful to read this site. I've always been a bit light sensitive, and I am currently having some eye problems, which gives me trouble with contrast.
David.

Okay, quick attempt at some help.

If you're using Windows 10, hit Windows-Key and the + key. (the plus key) This opens the magnifier. Reset magnifier to 100% (mine defaults to 200%)
Then just press ctrl-alt-I (the ctrl key, Alt key, and letter "i" key. This inverses the screen so you get a black background with WHITE text.
Hit ctrl-alt-i again or Close the magnifier to end the effect.

Because this is a windows function, it works with all browsers.

I think "Trophy Points" are super ambigious and tell you less about a member at a glance than just displaying their likes and signup date. I mean, it could be an amalgamation of literally anything and you have no idea what represents a lot or only a few "Trophy Points" unless you refer to a chart. I understand that the nature of "likes" and such change over time and the RPF used to have none of it (I wouldn't mind going back to that either, personally) but if you're going to display something under the users name anyway, why package it up into the "Trophy Point" system?

Maybe i'm just not giving it a fair shot, to me the direct info is a better metric than a number that's a combined average of those factors, so it just seems like i'll end up clicking on a lot of avatars if I really want to know about that poster because the "Trophy Points" don't tell me much.

More criticism, I know, can't help it. Sorry. To be fair I don't really think this is a big problem, it's just one of those things i'll have to get used to.
