Re: Welcome to PROPbay.com! - 12/02/11: Introducing... PROPbay's Top 100 Rankings!
But under "Screen Matched" it states "Yes". That implies it is both an original costume and seen onscreen during ANH. Neither of those is the case. It is a small thing but that one "yes" means quite a bit in the context of the definition of screen matched provided by the website. And the description states that there is the possibility that some of the parts were screen used. None of them have been shown to be screen used, nor is there evidence I've seen so far for that (but I am always willing to see such evidence if there is). One may always speculate, certainly, but for ANH it was easy because there was the one costume seen onscreen. There was quite a discussion on the Prop Den about the suit and some of the components don't even match the ESB movie poster suit. The helmet does seem to match and that is what makes it stand out as a promotional suit. But a promo suit will not by definition be original nor screen-used, and this suit is neither. A promotional item is a replica. Yes a promotional item could be original, but in most instances props made for promotions are not unless they are leftover production material. Certainly it is a stunning promo suit, probably the only complete ANH promo suit in private hands.
