Warehouse 13 - The Tesla Gun

I'd say the kit's actual worth is around $20-$30 tops. For a casual con prop, it would be fine.

I did notice in the latest episode, the teslas actually glowing without fireing. I don't think I've seen that before. That last episode looked to have more effects work in it than usual as well.

Oh, no kits from me. I do this for the fun of it, and having the stuff on display in our home. There are a few things I've considered molding and making a run of, but they are personal sculpture type things. (I did a Real Ghostbusters Sam Hain headsculpt I might mold up to test the waters.)

I'm more a self builder than provider of parts.

Hey guys I have two of my frames that I'm not going to use so if interested PM me...I have to get rid of these so I can start buying what I need for the Derringer tesla.

is there a consensuses on the gauge? i'm never going to be able to duplicate the QMx model. i have a cool looking meter. is it blasphemy to use it?.

Your build is just moving right along Timelordd! Very, very, nice work!

Unfortunately my build has stalled for the past month, for a number of different reasons including several aspects of design including how to fasten everything all together as not to have it explode if accidentally dropped.

In the meantime, I've sourced out a couple of nice VU meter stand-ins for when I get around to building a display case for my Tesla gun:

The above photo is of a 1930's/1940's era VU meter which is a bit bigger than the screen-accurate one, but I feel the look is much better suited for a Nikola Tesla invention.

This one on the other hand...

...is definitely the right look for something more screen-accurate (although not entirely screen-accurate), but to me it screams the 1960's/1970's... just a little too modern a design for something Nikola Tesla would have had access to. Also, it is sized about 50% bigger than it's truly screen-accurate counterpart. Still nice looking, nonetheless.

Use em if you need em.

Hey Zombie Killer -- Nice VU meter! I came across one almost identical to this one, but the cut corners on it simply reminded me too much of a Battlestar Galactica design and I really didn't want to muddy my Tesla project with these design styling cues -- as cool as they are.

Thanks for sharing!

I posted those meters for use in the little windows on the tesla itself so you don't see the cut corners.

For the case i have the api 361. It should be the right size.

Gotcha! That makes perfect sense! My comment was based around using the actual full-sized meter for the display case, and not taking into consideration that the meter face could be scaled down for use in the small meter windows on the side of the gun itself.

The VU meter in my lower photo is not an API 361, but rather... from what I can tell from the super-faded stampings... an API Model 561. The 361 is the correct model that matches the screen-used version based on all research I've done. The 561 on the other hand is definitely over-sized by about 50%.

I noticed the blue static effects recently as wel.. not so much because they bothered me, but because I hadn't seen them before, and wasn;t sure I could add blue leds to the tesla gun props I'm working on.

I'm sure it was added, at least in their opinion, to draw attention to the prop. I guess they think everyone has ADHD and didn't realize the things they're pointing at the bad guys are weapons. :behave
