hi guys, i've been enjoying this thread for about a month and i've been working on a replica tesla of my own. i really appreciate the work/ research/ brainstorming that goes on here.

Did we ever get a pic of the other side of the derringer mini tesla gun? My wife wants one for Dragoncon, and I'm starting work on it today. I found two good donor clear tubes, and have an idea already for the "tuning fork", and innards.
If we don't have another reference pic for it, I'll just make something up based on the large version.

A friend of mine just got a (real) 9mm derringer, spitting image of the old west .45 version. Anyone in the area casting resin?

Plans are to use sculpey for the handles, and also to square off and add the details on the main body. (It almost looks like the squarish bits were added to the cylinder coming from the front tube itself.)
Oh, and that rounded bit of wood below the main body? If I were a betting man, I'd say they used a 1 inch cut off the end of a starbucks coffee stirrer for that!

OK... here ya all go. I only have one request. Please don't change anything other than the scale. I made this meter specifically for you guys. It has my company logo and I have added "RPF" to the artwork. Now, this is not the exact artwork I used for the studio guns, but it's close and I made it more personal to the RPF members.

More progress today.
After further research, it looks like the derrenger handles are much thicker than th 1/4 inch I originally used. I ended up usin that as a template, and making a 3/4 inch version, which looks about right, and feels much better in the hand.
For speed building, I decided to do the grips in insulation foam. After a few coats of acrylic paint, it'll have a thin plastic skin, and the grip really shouldn't take much abuse.
I'll have to rethink the main gun body, because the pvc pipe will be far too large and definitely the wrong shape. I'll probably fall back to wood and sculpey.

Handgrip completed, as well as the insulation foam padding, and the front trigger assembly. Time to break for lunch, and pick up our farnsworth faceplates from the engravers! It'll be tough not to want to assemble those first, but the derrenger tesla is taking priority today, I think.
