Warehouse 13 - The Tesla Gun

API Model 361 VU Panel Meter is another, looks good.
Magnetic MTG VU Meter also fits the bill. I've got a bid in on on of these right now.

The scale/legend is often easy to fix. Just open up the meter and print out a new one and replace/cover it. I've done it with smaller ones.

Hi Interceptor6.....

The scully is close but not correct. If the meter was to be housed in the wooden case where you would only see the meter's window frame, then I would say get the meter without "Scully" on it and you would be fine. However, the meter does not sit that way. You actually see what's right under the window so... it's not the same housing. Also, keep in mind that this "meter" is modified. It's not a foundpart like you see it.

I did run a check on the internet for about an hour trying to track down a supply, but there was not one hit. What you need is pretty rare. I would say do what PeterLC said and grab that meter. I would say for everyone to grab a meter with no large wording on the main part of the meter's graphics and then make the rest. Again.... the prop is a modified prop.

Kenney, pm sent! Tag, you're it!
Peter, the API auction has 2 meters, If I can get them cheap enough I'll buy both and can get one to Oz at cost.
Since we're getting warm on the meter, perhaps Kenney will tell us if the case is a found box or built for the prop? Could be "another" game afoot!
Cheers, Jeff

Hi guys,
I would say grab a meter that looks as close to the screen grabs as you can find. Pay attention to the shape and just make the rest....

If I could give part numbers out, I would... but I have to be careful and wouldn't be ethical to QMx or the studio NDAs.. I will say you guys are on the right track.

I'll try and help where I can... as best I can.

I also want to again tell timelordd again what a wonderful job you're doing. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing your finished prop.

Jeff I would have thought the box is a made item. Of all the stuff, the box would seem the easiest to make and that is coming from someone who is not very good at woodwork. If I ever get this Tesla made, I don't know how screen accurate I intend to be with the box. One reason is the meter and the other is that I thought of including room to fit a mini-Tesla. Again it all comes down to ever being able to make or procure a Tesla.

The same goes for the Farnsworth stand. To fit both versions of the Farnsworth on the stand (not at the same time) means making the stand slightly taller due to the antenna thingies at the top of the Farnsworth Farnsworth. We haven't seen Claudia use that Farnsworth this season.

Thanks Kenny, I have to redo the side emitter this week I noticed something That I have to change, pictures can be so deceiving!

Thanks Kenny, I'll keep plugging along with what's close, and upgrade as I go! Half the fun is in the hunt, afterall!
Peter, my ideas exactly! My box may well be big enough to hold my Farnsworth as well!
If I get the "close" meter's I'll drop you a line, if not I'll just use what I've collected so for, and keep my eyes open for "closer"!
Timelordd, your tesla's got us blown away! I wish I had access to your shop!
Keep up the great work!
Cheers, I6

Yeah Timelord's work is coming along incredibly well. I would so love a big lathe and a mill but not going to happen. I don't even have a drill press or band saw. I am looking to buy a small 30cm between-centres lathe for hobby work which can be had at a reasonable cost and most of what I want/need to do is smaller stuff (larger stuff can always be done in pieces). They are fine for wood, plastic, brass and aluminium and such. Not sure about any hard metals.

As for the mill, I just have to find sympathetic/empathetic people who can do the work for me at reasonable cost.

I do hope we aren't bidding for meters against each other on ebay. :lol:cry

Let's not do that! There will be plenty of these to go around.
I've got a bid on the API Model 361 at the moment. It's cheap, but has a logo in the center of the dial.
Shout out if anyone has a bid in place! No need to jack the prices up on each other!:cool

I sold my lathe years ago, but I've still got a drill press, band saw, welders, torches, etc. My favorite shop tool is the 72" belt sander.

Or get a cheap drill press and cheap slide vise... Hardly perfect and no replacement for a milling machine, but once you get it dialed in you might be amazed at what you can pull off...
