Voyager Build

While I wait for some other jobs to happen so I can finish the big E I finally pulled out this Voyager kit I've had since the 90s and started but never finished. As I recall I was moving in 2000 and it got packed away.

Since then I got all the goodies for it including a custom made lighting package Randy made up for me and will slowly finish it off. Hell it doesn't have Aztecs!

Seems IO already light blocked it and painted it silver inside. Drilled out a lot of the windows. Hey this should be a snap. Will have Rob at Acreation Models make me some fresh decals though. I don't dare use nearly 16 year old decals.

This is my second favorite Trek ship after the NX-01... Looking forward to watching this build. We all know it will be awesome with Steve at the helm!

Thanks Kenny and Dave. I'm looking forward to this one too after having it sit so long. I suppose kits of this model are hard to come by? Parts sure weren't.

Thinking about have the pylons retract and hold down some how. I was thinking one servo and a servo driver.

This should be a fun build to watch.

What sort of silver paint do you generally use when you light a model? Rattle can silver? Or do you just use an acrylic/enamel silver out of an A/B?

I don't usually subscribe to threads. But for some reason I'm all excited about this particular build. Voyager is probably my second favorite ship, so seeing this build has got me wanting to build one too. Looking forward to the rest!

Thanks guys. This will be easier than the NX for sure! Yikes what a hard build that was.

I don't usually use silver and I'm sure 12 years ago when I started it was a rattle can. But white works best I have found. The NX-01 and the Daedalus show that to be true as they were both painted black first and then white. Both the black and the white were primer too.

I will get some work done this weekend. Right now the big Seaview customer build is my job. In a couple of weeks it will be done and water tested and off to it's owner giving more time for Voyager.

I agree that white is better for reflecting/diffusing light. But isn't silver good for light proofing, because of the metal content?

I'm not sure but I do know that primer alone has worked for me so far. Some body do an experiment.

Personally, I never got too worked up over either the ship or the show. That said, after the NX-01 and Daedalus threads, there's no way I'm not going to watch this one happen. General Modeling is fast becoming my favorite subforum...

Don's light and magic is where the deflector came from. The PE set from monsters in motion. The lighting kit Voodoofx made for me. Decal from Acreation Models.
