Tim, thanks for giving the members of this site an opportunity to have its voice heard! We love nothing more than being able to interact and work with the companies who are bringing us the toys we all want.

To all the members, Tim has asked us to randomly choose a couple of poll participants to receive some goodie bags from Weta as a "thank you" for our participation.

We randomly chose from the participants and members Flachzange and Adam H were selected to receive a very cool gift from Weta! In addition, Franz Bolo will also receive a gift from Weta for his help in setting up this poll and making sure it went well! I will be contacting you guys via PM for your mailing info.

Thanks to everyone for participating and lets hope this encourages more vendor/member relationships in the future!

Again, thanks, Tim and thanks, Weta!

Woohoo!! Thanks a ton! Can't wait to see what comes. Will definitely post pics when it gets here. Thanks Art, Tim, and Weta!!

Thanks Mike

Email sent! Thanks again for making all the cool stuff from D9. I've got this in my basement:

I think District 9 is one of the best Sci Fi films to come out in a looong time. Very powerful with great character development and plot. Oh! And one of the finest mecha to ever grace the silver screen.

It's very cool you guys are on this board and taking suggestions.

By the way, some of you may be interested in some of the concept art for District 9 on our website http://www.wetanz.com/district9

Was just looking at these and LOVE that you guys have nice large versions of the artwork uploaded. Nothing worse than seeing amazing concept art the size of a postage stamp! Very cool!

It is really interesting to see the progression of the alien design... creepy!

Thanks for the great suggestions folks and all the wonderful enthusiasm. It's encouraging to know folks are excited about it. :) Please keep the ideas coming and we'll do our best to include as much as we can in the finished book.

Right now the biggest limitation we have is page numbers. The book is locked in at 160 pages, which is a lot, but even if we had 200 + pages we could never get everything in there. There's a huge amount of material to include and the vast majority of it has never been seen before, including stuff we made that didn't end up in the final cut, so it's been really tough deciding what goes in and what doesn't. Do we go for more art but make it all postage stamp sized, or less art but reproduced big and beautiful? It's a balancing act.

Right now the major focus of the book is on the concept art, including sculptures, but we will also have LOADS of photographs, just like we did in the Crafting of Narnia. D9 gun fans, you will be happy. :) Looking through this thread, I'm hoping that should make most folks very happy.

Thus far the book is shaping up to be image driven, with less text in favour of more art, but what text we will have will be good stuff with quotes and info direct from the crew and Neil Blomkamp. It's not a Making of book, but an Art of book, so the emphasis is on the creative processes rather than the technical, but we'll certainly touch on some of the "how we did this" stuff as well. With the limitations on pages, we're also concentrating on Weta Workshop's contributions to the project, but there are loads of great stories to tell about how things developed and all the interesting paths not taken along the way.

Please keep the ideas coming! There are some excellent ones here and we're certainly including as many as we can, within the constraints of practicality. :)

Thanks for the great votes of confidence friends!
