New Official Boba Fett Details #3 Thread!!!

thats how I've attached my back plate. I lined up the collar and back then drilled through them both, then got some butterfly bolts and encased the nut in resin with aluminum powder in it to make the shoulder bolts which I'd sculpted up. I secured the screw through the back plate, and they just pop up through the holes in the collar where I screw down the bolts to secure it all

Dean's bolts are awesome. They need to be filed down a bit to give them the soft, rounded edges of the real things (which are resin and I imagine they were built much like purple sith built his) but other than that I definitely think they are the way to go!

Well, they look to be pretty damn close if they aren't. Plus, you have the added bonus of all metal construction--durable and easy weathering.

Cripe. I sound like a salesman.

if I can ever get my photo album to work properly I'll post some close up shots of how I did mine. They're incredibly secure!
On a similar subject, does any one do other metal bits like knee darts and rocket pack accesories? Mine are resin and look a bit, well, shoddy

Funny you should ask.

Dean O has done knee darts and jetpack beacons in the past. Machined from aluminum and tapped with secure fasteners. Works of art.

Hi guys. Further to the expander offering, the three extras that I had have all been spoken for. I wish that I had more to offer but those were the last of the ones that would be close enough to use. I do have other extras but they're of completely different designs and wouldn't be acceptable. Best of luck to you all with your Fett efforts, though!

Regards,
James/JME3

"Every indication points to the shoulder bolts holding the two pieces together."

Well duuuh!!! What, do you think I just pulled that one out of my butt or something!?!

I'll be doing more collar knobs for sure. Just give me a few months to get caught up on the current jobs I have. I may be able to get them sooner but can't promise. As for the jetpack, knee darts, etc. just email me.

Later

Man, those things have pretty sharp corners!!! I sure hope you didn't pull 'em out of your butt! That would have been EXTREMELY painful!!!

Hey, watch it, quit talkin about my butt!!

I do need to soften the egdes of those nuts a bit don't I? I'll do that to the next ones. BTW, could you send a few small pics of the real ones my way?

Sent you about 5 pics. Think I kept the total mail size under 1Mb which is pretty good for me...

Hey Dean, do you have any plans to do any knee greeblies that have the three lines etched around them as seem in the AoSW UK pics? Also, I think my infrared "nightvision" feature on the camcorder picked up a texture on the red circle that I had not seen before, does that show up in any of your pics, BB?

Also, BB, do you think you could post a comparison pic showing why you think the gloves were backed in the same fabric as the vest. It just didn't look like it to me, but I didn't specifically pay attention to that. The material looked closer to what Shelby is using now, IMOHO.

Yes, I saw those. They are like little diamond marks in a couple of the darts, I assume it is from some sort of vice or clamp. I will try to send you and Dean pics of it today.

The back of the gloves ARE the same material. Just ask Slave1. We both confirmed it. I will try to send pics later on.

Sorry if I have been and continue to be a bit distracted. I just finished 140 eBay auctions and they are taking up a good deal of my time. I also got a scond job as a consultant so that too is cutting down on my Boba Fett time but it is increasing my Boba Fett spending fund!!!

Man, this one is just too easy.

I'm not even going to make a comment.

Re: Ninja Turtles costume question.

Ok mask is done. Just need work on the eyes and still undecided on the bandana material. As this was my first go at casting a mask and using latex it shrank a little but fits nicely on my head to the point where when I talk the mouth moves.

Now to move onto the shell. Any tips for building the back shell?

Sorry about the bad pic. I'll upload a better one soon when I'm done with the mask.
